I have a Bitlocker recovery screen on my computer. I have followed the steps to get the code. On my account, under devices and manage bitlocker keys. Once I click to get the keys, a new window opens and it just keeps loading and loading. The new page keeps refreshing and refreshing with no end in sight. It tells me attempting to log you in over and over and over flashing on the screen. I have tried multiple devices in multiple area codes on multiple different browsers with no luck. WHAT DO I DO!

Your site should load after like 5 minutes of waiting.

Make sure to first sign into account.microsoft.com on Microsoft Edge

Hope it helps. I eventually came right myself

    Hi Kalli Randall ,

    Thanks for reaching out.

I'm sorry to hear you're experiencing this persistent issue accessing your BitLocker recovery key. Here’s a step-by-step approach to help you resolve the problem when the BitLocker recovery portal continuously refreshes or fails to display your key:

    1. Alternative Methods to Retrieve Your BitLocker Recovery Key

    a. Check Other Locations Where the Key Might Be Stored

BitLocker recovery keys can be saved in several places. If the online portal is not working, try these alternatives:

    • Microsoft Account (Web Portal):
      • Normally, you would visit https://aka.ms/myrecoverykey and sign in to view your recovery keys. However, since this portal is not loading for you, proceed to the next options.
    • Work or School Account:
      • If your device is managed by an organization, the recovery key might be stored in your work or school account.
      • Try accessing https://aka.ms/aadrecoverykey from a different network or device.
      • If the portal still does not load, contact your IT support team—they can often retrieve the key directly from the organization’s management system.
    • Printed Copy:
      • Check if you printed the recovery key when BitLocker was first set up. Look in your personal records or with any important documents related to your device.
    • USB Flash Drive:
      • If you saved the recovery key to a USB drive, insert it into another computer and look for a text file containing the key.

    2. Organizational or IT Support Assistance

    • If Your Device Is Organization-Managed:
      • Reach out to your company’s or school’s IT helpdesk. Administrators can access BitLocker recovery keys through tools like Microsoft Entra ID (Azure AD), Active Directory, or management platforms such as MBAM (Microsoft BitLocker Administration and Monitoring).
      • Provide them with your device’s recovery key ID (displayed on the BitLocker recovery screen) to help them locate the correct key quickly.

    3. Troubleshooting the Portal Access Issue

If you must use the online portal but it keeps refreshing:

    • Try These Steps:
      • Clear your browser cache and cookies before attempting to log in again.
      • Use a private/incognito browsing window.
      • Attempt access from a different network (such as a mobile hotspot) to rule out local network issues.
      • Disable any VPN or proxy services that might interfere with authentication.
      • Ensure your browser is up to date.
    • Multiple Browsers and Devices:
      • Since you’ve already tried several browsers and devices, and the issue persists, this may indicate a temporary service problem or an account-specific issue.

    4. If You Still Cannot Access the Recovery Key

    • Contact Microsoft Support:
      • If none of the above methods work and you cannot retrieve the key through your account or IT support, you may need to contact Microsoft Support directly for further assistance.
    • Last Resort – Device Reset:
      • If the recovery key cannot be found or retrieved, and you are unable to undo any recent changes that triggered BitLocker recovery, the only remaining option may be to reset your device using Windows recovery options. Please note, this will erase all files on the device.

    Summary of Actions

    1. Check for printed or USB-stored copies of your recovery key.
    2. Contact your organization’s IT support if the device is managed.
    3. Troubleshoot browser and network issues when accessing the recovery portal.
    4. If all else fails, reach out to Microsoft Support or consider device reset as a last resort.

For more detailed guidance on each recovery method, you can refer to the official Microsoft resources on finding your BitLocker recovery key.
