An Azure communication platform for deploying applications across devices and platforms.
A 30-day Submitted/Pending status is still within the normal review window for Azure Communication Services toll-free verification.
Supported timelines are:
- Application Submitted → Pending: 1 to 5 business days.
- Pending → Verdict (Verified, Rejected, or More info needed): 4 to 5 weeks.
- End-to-end, the process usually takes 5 to 6 weeks, and when application volume is high it can take around 8 weeks.
What to do now:
- In the Azure portal, open the Azure Communication Services resource tied to the toll-free number.
- Check Telephony and SMS / Phone numbers or Regulatory Documents for the current application status and any reviewer notes.
- If the status changes to Rejected or More info needed, update the requested fields and resubmit.
- If the application remains unchanged past about 8 weeks, open an Azure support request because only Microsoft can check the backend queue status for a specific submission.
Important related point: only fully verified toll-free numbers can send SMS traffic to US and Canadian phone numbers. Since January 31, 2024, traffic from unverified or pending verification toll-free numbers is blocked.
To reduce the chance of further delay or rejection, verify that the application still clearly includes:
- all required fields
- a clear program description
- a detailed opt-in process
- a publicly accessible opt-in image URL
- content that follows CTIA guidelines
For toll-free verification, the opt-in details are especially important. If proof of opt-in is not provided in the Opt-in URL field, the URL is inaccessible, or the opt-in process is unclear, the application is rejected.
