Is there a way to get rid of star that shows up on my Surface when I try to write on it with the pen? It's annoying and I don't understand why it shows up. It gets in the way.

Try these steps:

Open Control Panel.

Select Pen and Touch.

Under the Pen Options tab, select Press and Hold and click Settings.

Uncheck "Enable press and hold for right-clicking."

Click OK, then Apply.

If the star still appears:

Go to Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Pen & Windows Ink

Turn off any options related to visual effects, show cursor, or visual feedback, if available.
