Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments
Uninstalling Outlook and reinstalling 16.108 worked 100% for me on my MBP.

Product: Microsoft Outlook for Mac
Description of the issue: After updating Outlook for Mac [Version 16.110 (26061317)] on 18/6/2026, replying to any email no longer includes the original message in the reply window. Prior to the update, replies correctly contained the original email text below my response.
Steps to reproduce:
Open Outlook for Mac.
Select any received email.
Click Reply.
A new reply message opens.
The original email content is not included in the reply.
Expected behavior:
The original message should be included in the reply, as in previous Outlook versions and according to the configured reply settings.
Actual behavior:
The reply window contains only a blank composition area (or only my response), with none of the original email text included.
Additional information:
The problem started immediately after the latest Outlook update.
The problem did not exist before the update.
System information:
Impact:
This issue significantly affects email workflows because replies no longer contain the context of the original correspondence.
Using older versions of Outlook for Mac in business environments
I'm completely frustrated; I'm experiencing the same issue and I don't want to lose all my files. I hope there's a fix for this major bug since yesterday's update! Could you please fix it? Thank you.
This is an extremely frustrating bug in this last update, and I hope a fix is on the way. This is frankly quite disappointing that something major like this completely evaded the software testing process before it was being rolled out.
I had the same problem using Outlook 16.110 on a Mac. Original message threads disappeared when replying after auto update to 16.110.
I rolled back to 16.109 and disabled auto updates for the time being until MS resolve this.
How long does it take to do that - its been a few weeks now and still no news.....
In my case, I cannot deactivate the automatic update as my laptop and software are administered by my organisation. What should I do in this case? Should I ask them to deactivate all updates of Microsoft Outlook?
If your device managed by your company, please inform your IT admin about your situation.
If possible, you can ask them what solution they can do in this situation. because each company will have different policy, they can adjust a single device or entire a device depends on the situation.
Equally important to Reply is Forwarding. When forwarding a message , obviously we want to forward the message. But when the original message is not included, then it defeats the purpose of forwarding. Yes, this needs to be fixed as soon as possible.
Jayden-P's answer above, solved my problem. Thanks!
I believe switching to new outlook seems to work but this interface does not have all the features I need.
Is this bug a cunning plan by MS to wean us off Legacy Outlook?
I really don't like the 'new' Outlook and much prefer the functionality of Legacy.

Microsoft has never made a secret of the fact that they want you off of Legacy Outlook for Mac.
But the "replies blank" bug in Version 16.110 is just that. A bug. (You should see some of the whoppers they let slip thru for New Outlook for Windows)
Same here. I really don’t like the functionality of the “New” Outlook. It’s a bit like “New Coke” (for those old enough to remember that disaster). Please let us keep Legacy Outlook.
Having the same issue as others.
As a work around I copy from the original email.
Not very convenient...
Any idea when a fix is expected??

Legacy Outlook for Mac uses Exchange Web Services (EWS) in Exchange Online to deliver your email. The EWS service will be retired on October 1, 2026.
I am not sure I understand.
I need to use the Legacy Outlook for the Mac as local rules are not supported in the other!
Any update from your side?
Nothing yet I'm afraid. It'll be probably easier to get the next upgrade by Microsoft. I wonder if this problem has been escalated. I cannot imagine it is too difficult to fix.
Microsoft has aware and actively investigating this. I will keep you updated if a fix roll out.
You can also track using the official article here: Replying to or forwarding an email does not include the original message in the email body in legac…

You may be able to keep using Legacy Outlook for Mac until at least 2029. Perhaps longer if you have a standalone version of the software and are willing to stay on an older Mac OS version and not receive any Microsoft Office Updates.
This is completely absurd. The fact that I need to uninstall and revert to an earlier version for basic email functionality is not what I expect from MSFT.
I have just tried following the instructions above, but the link for 16.109.3 does not work. There is the following note:
Download links are only provided for the most recent releases.
Only the most recently released version listed below is supported.
Am I doing something wrong, or has the link been disabled? How do I get round this?

@Jayden-P Thanks for sharing the official article. It was interesting that it is suggested switching to New Outlook as the only remedy. I have tried that, and only one of my e-mail accounts transferred over to the "New Outlook". Reinstalling every account would be a real hassle. The roll back to 16.109 is a much better workaround that doesn’t affect my workflow.
@Hornblower409 No, it wasn’t working. I switched back to Safari and it worked there. All sorted (for now), thanks!
The New Outlook does not support local rules.
And since it appears all support is leaving this October for my Outlook it appears I will have to delete Outlook entirely.

Have you reviewed the specific timeline by product (MS 365, Stand-alone, LTSC) and environment (Exchange Online, Exchange On-Premises) for legacy Outlook for Mac in the "Support timeline for legacy Outlook for Mac" section of https://support.microsoft.com/en-US/Outlook/end-of-support-for-legacy-outlook-for-mac
yes. It is no longer supported in Oct tgis year
Dealing with the same things, so many hours trying to figure it out and finally realized it happened after I upgraded to 16.110 and I tried going back to 16.109 but I cant without uninstalling and losing everything in my Outlook.

I would suggest that you use the "Ask a question" button at the top of this page to start a new Question.
Ask very specifically in your new Question - Can I roll back my Legacy Outlook for Mac from Version 16.110 to Version 16.109.3 without loosing any data? If so, what are the exact steps I must follow?
You can include the URL of this page for reference in your new Question.
Please put a link to your new Question in a comment here, so the rest of us can follow.
I am on Mac and it did fix the issue for me - all working perfectly now
Hi All, I may have found a quick hack. I don't know why it worked. I toggled to the updated version of Outlook (deselect "legacy outlook"), and then reverted back to the "legacy outlook". When I reverted back, the replies/forwards operated as they should. Give it a try?
@DJJ said
deselect "legacy outlook" and then reverted back

You may have picked up 16.110.1 (which fixes the bug)
I have been affected by the same. In my case I was using legacy Outlook, converting to the contemporary application (at least until a fix is in place) has helped in my situation.
When will a fix be rolled out? This has been reported over a month ago. Thank you.

Hi @Tsoumpas, C (ngmb) and everyone;
Microsoft has rolled out version 16.110.1 on Current Channel. Please update your device to this version to fix the issue.
Thanks to everyone for being patience.
How do I get to this update? When I select "Check for Updates" in Outlook, it is saying it is up to date and not showing this update.
Nevermind, I found the update but it was on "Current Channel (Preview)" for me.
I can only see 16.110 on Current Channel
Same here. 16.110.1 doesn't show up in my updates, either. Only 16.110. I guess we'll have to wait and keep using 16.109 in the meantime.
I was unable to find the automatic update. I went online and downloaded the release, installed it, and everything is working as it should, for now!

It may take some time for a new general release to be available to everyone. If you don't want to wait, you can try changing your Update Channel to "Current Channel {Preview)". See the Answer by "Jayden-P Jun 23, 2026" in this thread.
