My clipchamp appears to be starting up and then it stays on a blank screen. please help me.

I am having the same problem I believe microsoft has graced us with a glorious update that makes it so the software does not work anymore. I assume it will be fixed soon, but I can't imagine with this level of competence that it will be within a reasonable time frame.

Clipchamp was working fine. I was editing a memorial slideshow for my mother's upcoming funeral and after several hours working on it, the UI got janky, so I exited and restarted ClipChamp. Now I get the black screen. I can't run it in Edge or Chrome on this PC, but it does work in Chrome on a different PC, though the desktop app does not work on that machine. I'm looking for an alternative because I have to get the slideshow done.

Same issue. I worked on it last night, using it for a university assignment, was working fine last night. This morning, black screen. It doesn't even get to the home screen, there isn't a single button that I can press, clipchamp isn't getting that far into the boot up sequence. This might make me miss my university assignment deadline, which is Monday. Restarted it again, and this time it asked if I'd like to open in the web version. It's also just a black screen!

Same issue. Clipchamp opens but it only presents a purplish-black blank screen. I would also like to mention that the Microsoft store also appears to open, but crashes after a few seconds with a green screen. How truly odd.

EDIT: hey guys the browser version actually works just fine, so use that if you need to get something done.

The exact thing happened to me i use the desktop app and its been working fine then today i get a white screen. I uninstalled and re-installed and got a login screen and i thought "yes" then the white screen again after login. I thought it may be because i had lots of processes running and when i closed them it didnt fix it for me :(. I love clipchamp so simple to use reminds me of old skool windows xp. Please help

Browser version has worked after a little bit, but my project isn't there - so I'm still stuck :( EDIT: Realised my gmail email account was signed in through windows, rather than gmail itself. So I've logged in and the project is there - BUT - all of the links of individual video files on my PC are broken, so that will be a slog to go through and link them all. And then, if the desktop app begins to work after sometime, maybe the links will have broken there - unsure. EDIT 2: Turns out linking wasn't hard, just select all files in the folder and it auto does it. But now only some of the project files have linked to videos, even though they're all accounted for, AND, I can't press PLAY, when I hover over the button, the mouse symbol is a cross.

I legit am trying to edit some let's play videos for my youtube channel and its been having the same blank screen issue that everyone else is having since last night like clearly I am not the only one affected so when is microsoft actually gonna fix the problem with the blank screens for both the app and for the website the moment you click on create a video like some of us are actually trying to do stuff with clipchamp here and it seems microsoft really doesn't care to fix it as its been over a day already since at least when I had the issue personally I just don't understand why microsoft can't get right on this since it very much seems to be affecting a multitude of people I am just saying

just waiting for someone at microsoft to actually do something to fix this and I am not sure if I am the only one here that uses to edit videos for youtube but I am just saying this is very important thing to all of us and we would like it if microsoft can fix it asap

I add my comment, because below I see comment, that John DeV haven't found any indication of a widespread Clipchamp service outage. My experience. I was away 3 days on business trip abroad. I did not work with PC online. Returned home, uploaded windows update and since then Clipchamp does not work (like other I see only blank screen). Many thanks Windows team!!!! Many thanks. Several hours I am working on many attempts to fix it, but it does not work at all.

anyone else still having issues with the app specifically where you try to edit a video load it in and is just forever stuck at 0% its not even that long of a video like a 23 minute-ish video I need to crop to a certain size for my youtube channel and apparently the website version of clipchamp doesn't allow you to crop to a certain size like you can do in the app otherwise if anyone else is having similar issues of not being able to load in videos to edit on the app specifically please let me know given recent history I would not be surprised if clipchamp is still not working properly for other people as well and before anyone asks yes I did everything possible to fix the issue on my end specifcally according to all the suggestions I found online to try to fix the issue on my end but at this point I am literally just presuming other people are having the same issue as me as well

so when is microsoft gonna start taking this seriously with how many issues people are having with the app and the website while I have the website working for me currently it doesn't exactly allow me to resize the screen for a video I am making where I can do that on the app normally but cant even import a video in for the life of me even did everything they asked me to do within what I am able and willing to do in an email they sent me and guess what still have no way to make the import a video option work like seriously when is microsoft gonna actually take this seriously and just accept they need to fix the app and maybe even the website itself for people having issue with the website itself as well otherwise has made sure on all of the things they said to do that none of these were the issue with the acceptions of trying to use chrome or edge god forbid and I do not have another device to try on as they somehow suggested thinking everyone has multiple devices which spoiler alert not all of us do I am just saying

This is a temporary fix until it's officially fixed.
Go to uptodown (https://uptodown.com, https://en.uptodown.com for the english version) and search "Clipchamp", then click "Results for windows" (or else it'll go into Android apps), click "Clipchamp" then click the small "Older versions" button next to "Get the latest version", then scroll down till you find version "4.4.10430.0" that was released "Oct 15th, 2025". Click it, scroll down till u find the big green button called "Download", click that then it'll download "clipchamp-4-4-10430-0.msixbundle" which is the app installer, double click it and it'll download it.

Q: It says "Microsoft Clipchamp is already installed", what do i do?
A: Delete the clipchamp currently installed, then double click it (you can NOT have 2 versions installed at the same time).

Q: It still shows the black screen, what do i do?
A: Get a different version, if not a SINGLE version works, you'll have to wait for the official fix (or use the web version which for me only sometimes works, but for others it sometimes always works, so test it out if u dont wanna do the other version thing).

Q: What's the website?
A: It's called uptodown, a website that finds apps and puts them into itself, like an "un-official" app store (just fyi it's NOT a piracy site, paid apps still have to be paid for). (the link to the website is https://uptodown.com and https://en.uptodown.com for the english version, the download page for the version i talked about is https://clipchamp.en.uptodown.com/windows/download/1114311008).

NOTE: I did do this all myself and on my laptop so i know it's safe.

No offense but all we get is blank screens John DeV so we can't even do what you are suggesting to begin with also why can't microsoft just fix the issue on their end since its clearly and issue on their end if its multiple people affected by this including me as well

how am i suppose to look for any icon when the website is down i cannot even LOG in to the web version and the app doesnt work its just loading forever or black screen with NO buttons

Try the following steps in order until Clipchamp opens past the blank screen:

Refresh or reopen the project
- If Clipchamp opens but the editor area is blank or stuck on “loading your assets”, press Ctrl + F5 (or use the browser/app reload button) to reload the editor.
- Go back to the Clipchamp project overview, reload that page, then reopen the project.
Use a supported browser or the desktop app
- Use the latest Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome.
- If using the browser and it stays blank, try the Clipchamp desktop app for Windows instead.
Check internet connection
- Make sure Wi‑Fi/internet is active and stable while opening Clipchamp and projects, because Clipchamp needs an active connection to function and save progress.
Free up memory and disk space
- Close other browser tabs and any other applications to free RAM.
- Ensure there is enough free space on the internal drive; free space should be more than the total size of the video files in the project.
Disable or whitelist browser extensions
- Privacy, ad‑blocking, translation, or other extensions can block Clipchamp and cause a blank or stuck screen.
- Either temporarily disable extensions in Edge/Chrome, or whitelist Clipchamp:
  - Personal version: allow https://app.clipchamp.com/.
- After changing extension settings, restart the browser and reload Clipchamp.
Check Edge “Added security” / tracking prevention (Edge only)
- In Edge, click the lock/Added security icon next to the address bar when on Clipchamp.
- Turn off Tracking prevention for this site.
- Reload the page and test again.
Verify hardware requirements
- Ensure the device has at least 8 GB RAM (16 GB recommended), a 64‑bit CPU/OS, and a recent graphics card.
- If the device is older or under‑spec, Clipchamp may freeze or show a blank screen; testing on a newer or more powerful computer can confirm this.

If the screen is still blank after these steps, use the Clipchamp support options (help articles, support hub, or tutorials) to continue troubleshooting.
