How to get the Outlook Contact web preview pane back?

Hello,

It looks there is a new webUI for Outlook Contacts.

Unfortunately the preview pane disappeared and you need to click on the contact to open a box and navigate through tabs to get access to the contact information while it was all showing on one preview pane screen before.

Is it possible to get it back? It was much faster and much more convenient...

Thanks!

    Hi @Florian Kolmer,

Thank you for your feedback and for sharing your experience with the updated Outlook Contacts interface.

At this time, there does not appear to be a supported way to switch Outlook on the web back to the previous Contacts/People layout with the preview pane once your tenant has been moved to the new People Hub. According to Microsoft’s rollout updates, users are automatically transitioned to the new Contacts experience, and the option to toggle back to the legacy view is no longer available.

For reference: Microsoft 365 Roadmap – Outlook: New and Improved People Hub on Web

In the current design, Outlook on the web uses a refreshed multi-column layout. You select a contact from the list, and their details are displayed in a separate view using a profile card. The information is organized into sections or tabs, which may vary depending on the contact data available.

    Submit feedback to Microsoft

I understand that this change can impact your workflow, especially if you preferred having all details visible at a glance in the previous preview pane. Your feedback is thoughtful, practical, and reflects a real need that many users likely share. Ideas like this play an important role in improving the product experience.

As a forum moderator, I hope you understand that I don’t have the ability to modify or escalate product issues directly. However, I strongly recommend submitting your feedback through the Microsoft 365 Feedback Hub > Send Feedback > Describe your proposal in detail. This is the most effective way to ensure your voice reaches the product team and can be considered about how company-only contacts are handled in search results, with potential improvements being considered for future improvements.

I’d be happy to upvote it to help increase its visibility.  Moreover, if you are unable to submit feedback, please inform me at your convenience. Additionally, as other users have raised similar concerns and may not be aware of where to share their feedback, I hope this response helps clarify the situation and suggests a potential next step. Highlighting this information can make it more visible to others in the community who may be facing the same issue, making it easier for them to find guidance and contribute their feedback as well.

Thank you again for your time and for raising this important usability concern. If you have any further questions or need additional assistance, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Wishing you a smooth rest of your day.
