Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
To download and install Office Home & Business 2024 after redeeming the product key, use the Microsoft account that was used to activate it and install from there, not from the Order History page alone.
Follow these steps:
- Go to the Services & subscriptions page
- Open https://account.microsoft.com/services.
- Sign in with the same Microsoft account that was used to redeem/activate the Office Home & Business 2024 product key.
- Locate the Office product
- Under Services & subscriptions, look for Office Home & Business 2024 (or the matching Office 2024 product name).
- If it does not appear, check if a different Microsoft account was used when redeeming the key.
- Start the download
- Next to the Office 2024 product entry, select Install (or Install on this device).
- This will download the correct Office installer for the device (PC or Mac).
- Run the installer
- On Windows: run the downloaded setup file and follow the prompts; Office will install in the background.
- On Mac: run the downloaded
.pkginstaller and follow the prompts.
- Activate Office
- After installation, open any Office app (for example, Word).
- When prompted, sign in with the same Microsoft account used in step 1. This will activate Office using the license already tied to the account.
If the product was purchased through Microsoft Store and only appears under Order history, use this path instead:
- Go to Order history at https://account.microsoft.com/billing/orders and sign in.
- Find the Office purchase and select Product key/install.
- Then select Install Office and follow the instructions; the wizard installs Office in the background.
If Product key/install is missing in Order history, follow the troubleshooting guidance there (for example, selecting the product name to reach its page and using the Install button from that page).
