My device is a BOOX Note Air 5

I didn't have any problems downloading Microsoft OneNote from Google play , however when I login the screen freezes forever and this rectangle box appears

I've tried everything, I reinstalled the app, updated my device, I checked the time zone of the device (idk why that was recommended)

my internet connection is perfectly fine

I also want to mention that I've encountered the same problem while logging in into Microsoft Teams so idk if the is a Microsoft app problem in general

has anybody else face the same problem?

    Hello Fatmah albagshi

From what you described, it seems that on your BOOX Note Air 5, you’re able to install Microsoft apps like OneNote and Teams, but when trying to sign in, the app gets stuck on a frozen login screen (with a rectangle box).

Since this affects both OneNote and Teams, it might be related to how the device handles the Microsoft sign‑in window (WebView) rather than a problem with the apps themselves.

You can try the following checks:

    1. Refresh Android System WebView /Chrome

On Android devices (including BOOX), OneNote and Teams rely on WebView/Chrome to display the sign‑in screen, so if this component is out of sync or not working smoothly, the login page may not load or respond as expected.

    • Open Play Store
    • Search for Android System WebView (or Chrome)
    • Update both apps
    • If they are already updated: go to Settings > Apps > Android System WebView > (three dots) > Uninstall updates
    • Restart your device before testing again

    Additional methods:

    1. Adjust BOOX app optimization
    • Go to Apps > App Management > Optimization
    • Select OneNote (repeat for Teams)
    • Turn off options like Freeze in background, Battery optimization, or similar restrictions
    • Close the app completely, reopen it, then try signing in again
    1. Sign in through browser first

As another workaround, you can try signing in once through a browser to initialize the account. Open browser on your BOOX device, go to a Microsoft site such as the Office homepage, and complete the sign‑in there. After that, return to OneNote or Teams and try logging in again.

If the issue continues, try signing in with a different Microsoft account, or test another Microsoft app (like Outlook). If all apps still freeze in the same way, this may suggest that the issue is related to the device’s compatibility.

Hope this could help. Please let me know how it goes on your device!

The behavior matches a sign-in/authentication issue affecting Microsoft apps on Android rather than a network problem.

Try these steps in order on the BOOX Note Air 5:

    1. Reset OneNote credentials and force a sync
      1. Open OneNote.
      2. Tap Notebooks (bottom left).
      3. Tap the three-dots menu (top right) > Settings > Account.
      4. Tap Sign Out and confirm.
      5. Use the recent apps button and swipe OneNote away to fully close it.
      6. Reopen OneNote and sign in again.
      7. After sign-in, open the notebook list, tap the three-dots menu > Sync all and leave the device on until sync completes.
    2. Check for the known Android account error If a message like “Account Error – Action Required” or “To sync this notebook, sign in to OneNote” appears, follow the in-app prompt:
      1. Go to Android Settings > Accounts and confirm the Microsoft account is listed.
      2. If prompted in OneNote, tap Add Email and attach a valid email address to the account so notes can sync.
    3. Clear cached Microsoft identity data (system-wide) Because Teams shows the same behavior, the shared Microsoft identity layer may be stuck.
      1. Sign out of all Microsoft apps on the device (OneNote, Teams, Outlook, etc.).
      2. Force stop OneNote and Teams from Settings > Applications > Application Manager > app > Force Stop.
      3. Reopen OneNote and try signing in again.
    4. Verify the correct account and subscription
      1. In a browser on any device, sign in to the Microsoft 365 portal using the same account intended for OneNote/Teams and confirm it works.
      2. On the BOOX, when prompted in OneNote/Teams, use that same account (personal Microsoft account or work/school account, not a different one).
    5. If the issue persists Because this is a non-standard Android device (e-ink tablet), ensure it meets the app’s system requirements and is running the latest firmware and Google Play Services. If all steps above fail, report the issue (device model, OS version, OneNote/Teams versions, and screenshots) via the OneNote for Android forums so the product team can investigate.
