I can't get control handles to appear on curved lines in Visio for web. This was a previously supported feature as I have diagrams saved where this was done.

    Hi @Christian Carson

I hope you are doing well.

Thank you for reaching out and for sharing the details. I tested this behavior in Visio for the web and confirmed that Arc/curved line shapes do not show the same curve “control handles” (e.g., the adjustable handle used to reshape the arc) in the web editor. Visio for the web supports a core set of editing features, while some advanced shape/geometry editing capabilities are available only in the full desktop app.

I recommend submitting feedback directly to Microsoft via the Feedback Portal to help prioritize this feature in future updates.

Control handles on certain shapes and connectors are available only for features that are optimized and supported in Visio for the web. Many advanced shape behaviors and effects created in the Visio desktop app are either simplified or not fully editable in the web editor.

In particular, Visio for the web focuses on basic diagramming and does not support all advanced editing capabilities that exist in the desktop app. Files that include advanced features or complex behaviors may open with an “optimized” appearance, but some interactions (such as specific control handles on curved lines) are not available in the web interface.

If existing diagrams show curved lines that were previously adjusted using control handles in the desktop app, those lines may now appear without editable control handles in Visio for the web. To adjust those curves, use the Visio desktop app, then save the file back to OneDrive or SharePoint for viewing and basic editing in the web.
