A Microsoft file hosting and synchronization service.
Use the following sequence to restore OneDrive connectivity across desktop, web, and mobile so the weekly Copilot task can run again:
- Confirm account and password
- Sign in to the Microsoft Account dashboard: https://account.microsoft.com/account/Account (as described in the OneDrive sign-in fixes).
- If sign-in fails there, use the sign-in helper to fix username/password issues.
- Update Windows and OneDrive (PC)
- Open Windows Settings → Windows Update and install all available updates. This addresses known Microsoft account sign-in issues that can affect OneDrive and Copilot.
- Download and install the latest OneDrive client if not already current. Use the latest OneDrive build referenced in the OneDrive troubleshooting articles.
- Restart the computer after updates.
- Reconnect OneDrive on desktop
- If the OneDrive icon is gray or shows a line through it, select it.
- In the Set up OneDrive window, enter the same email address and password used for Outlook.
- If sign-in still fails, check that any firewall/VPN or security software is not blocking OneDrive endpoints. Temporarily test by connecting via a different network (for example, mobile hotspot) to rule out ISP/firewall issues.
- Fix “not connected” or connection errors
- If OneDrive reports it is not connected, restart OneDrive from Start/Finder as described in the connection-issue guidance.
- If Files On-Demand is enabled and an error such as “OneDrive cannot connect to Windows” appears, ensure Windows and OneDrive are fully updated and then restart the device.
- Reconnect OneDrive on mobile (if used by the task)
- In the OneDrive mobile app, if the account shows as signed out or not connected, tap the account, sign out, then sign back in with the same Microsoft account.
- If sign-in still fails, test on a different network and verify the ISP or mobile provider is not blocking Microsoft 365 services.
- If OneDrive still cannot sign in anywhere
- Follow the “Can’t sign in” guidance: verify credentials, ensure the latest OneDrive version is installed, and review firewall/VPN configuration using the documented required URLs and ports for OneDrive.
- If using a work or school account and password reset does not help, contact the organization’s IT admin to verify the account and OneDrive service are not restricted.
Once OneDrive can sign in successfully on at least one platform (web, desktop, or mobile), Copilot features that depend on OneDrive should resume working for that account, allowing the weekly task to run.
