Hello,

I have been connected to the Microsoft account [Moderator note: Personally Identifiable Information removed] on my computer for the past 2 years. Today, I accidentally deleted my OneDrive folder from my computer. After deleting the OneDrive folder, all of my files disappeared, including documents, projects, and files related to both my undergraduate and graduate education.

When I try to sign in to the OneDrive website using this email address, I receive the following error message:

“Access Denied This page has been blocked as it violates the Acceptable Use Policy located in the Terms of Use. If you believe this is a mistake, please contact our Support team using M365 Admin Center for further assistance.”

I urgently need your help to recover my deleted files and restore them back to my computer through the recycle bin or any available recovery method.

Please help me. These files contain years of my work, education, projects, and important documents.

I sincerely beg for your assistance. Please i beg you.

If you "deleted [your] OneDrive folder from [your] computer" it will be in the Recycle Bin on your computer, where you can restore it.

If you deleted more than there was available space in your Recycle Bin, what you deleted would have been permanently deleted. But in this case, Windows would have asked you if you wanted those files to be permanently deleted. Did you see that?

If you missed that, in this case "permanently" doesn't necessarily mean "permanently".

When files are permanently deleted from the Recycle Bin, the operating system marks them for deletion, but they are not physically deleted from your computer. You are still able to use third-party file recovery software, like Recuva, to recover most or all of those files.

To succeed, you have to stop using your computer and immediately download the file recovery software. Since those files are marked for deletion, they can be overwritten if you continue to use your computer.

Did you really never backup years' worth of schoolwork?

This potential loss of data is much too important to entrust to the back and forth of a community forum. You should show your computer to a professional technician.

    Hi @Chris Green,

Thank you for reaching out, and I truly understand how urgent and distressing this situation must be, especially since your files include years of academic work and important documents.

Just to gently clarify before we go any further, I don’t have direct access to your school’s Microsoft 365 environment or administrative controls. Therefore, I’m not able to view, unblock your account, or restore your files directly. However, I’m more than happy to help you understand what’s happening and guide you toward the proper next steps to recover your data.

Based on the information you provided, I would like to explain what may have happened and guide you on the next steps.

When you deleted the OneDrive folder from your computer, the files were removed from your local device. Under normal circumstances, these files would still be available in the OneDrive Recycle Bin and could be recovered.

However, in your case, you are encountering the following error: “Access Denied This page has been blocked as it violates the Acceptable Use Policy located in the Terms of Use. If you believe this is a mistake, please contact our Support team using M365 Admin Center for further assistance.”

Due to this restriction, you cannot access your OneDrive online or recover your files at this time. Therefore, access to your data now depends on administrative intervention.

To resolve this issue, please contact your school’s IT Administrator or Helpdesk as soon as possible and share the following article with them: This Page Has Been Blocked as it Violates the Acceptable Use Policy - SharePoint | Microsoft Learn.

They may need to submit a support ticket in the Microsoft 365 Admin Center, which allows Microsoft Support to investigate the issue and take the necessary steps to restore access.

In case you do not know who is your IT admin, kindly refer to this article: How do I find my Microsoft 365 admin? - Microsoft Support.

Additionally, it is important to act quickly, as deleted files are only retained for a limited period (typically up to 93 days).

Important note: Although this situation is critical, your data is still likely recoverable. However, timely action by your school’s administrator is essential to ensure successful recovery.

I sincerely hope this helps point you in the right direction. Please try these steps and keep us updated if possible - your updates may also help others in a similar situation.

Thank you for your patience and understanding, and we’re here to assist you further whenever needed.
