UNRECOVERABLE files from a software malfunction. Please help!

TL:DR: Files from 3 months and prior disappeared after a shortcut sent out error messages (folder structure stayed intact). All attempts at recovery have failed.

I have looked for answers everywhere (including the forums) and cannot track down anything.

Yesterday, OneDrive popped an error message from one of my shortcut folders. Something to the effect that the shortcut was bad. I pressed OK on the error and suddenly files from 3 months and before were gone, but their folders and sub folders were fine.

I have tried everything, including restoring back 2 days and 7 days. Both times, OneDrive is moving the folder I had a shortcut to to the recycle bin and when I recover those files from the bin, the same files from 3 months and before are still missing.

I don't know what's going on and support has responded to 1 out of 3 tickets with a suggestion to a non existent problem, I called in 4 times and couldn't get through, and chat support was zero help.

These are past customer files so I am need of help asap. Thank you all for your time.
