Name changes for Microsoft certification profiles and Pearson VUE are not updated manually through this channel. Legal name and profile data used for exams are managed through the Microsoft Learn profile and, when an exam is scheduled, through Microsoft Credentials support.
To ensure the name is updated correctly for Pearson VUE and certifications, follow these steps:
- Update the legal name in the Microsoft Learn profile:
- Go to the Microsoft Learn profile settings page: https://learn.microsoft.com/users/me/settings
- Under Legal name (or personal info), update the name as required.
- If the system requires a last name but there is none, use an underscore (
_) as the last name, as recommended.
- If an exam is already booked or scheduled:
- After updating the Learn profile, a message and link to contact Credentials support will appear.
- Use that link or go directly to Credentials support: https://learn.microsoft.com/credentials/support/help#how-to-submit-a-support-request
- Submit a support request asking for the legal name to be corrected so it matches the identification and Pearson VUE records.
- Propagation time:
- Name changes can take up to 24 hours to update across Microsoft systems, including where the name is displayed.
If the name still does not update on the Pearson VUE side after updating the Microsoft Learn legal name and contacting Credentials support, continue working with Credentials support via the support request, as they are the only channel that can align the certification profile name with Pearson VUE.
