My out of office won't turn off so it's looks like I'm available but out of office at the same time. I've already checked outlook and tried to change my status but it won't update

    Hi @Amy Meyers

From the behavior you described, this can happen because Teams syncs OOF information from Outlook automatic replies and from calendar items marked as Out of Office.

Please follow the steps below to help pinpoint the root cause of this behavior:

1/ Confirm Automatic Replies are fully turned off in Outlook

Open Outlook on the web or desktop and verify that Automatic Replies are disabled. Teams uses that setting for OOF sync.

2/ Review your Outlook calendar for items still marked as Out of Office

    • Even if automatic replies are off, Teams can still show OOF if there is a calendar event with Show As = Out of Office
    • This can include events you accepted, even if you were not the organizer. If you find any, change them to Free or remove them if they are no longer needed.

    3/ Reset your Teams status

In Teams, select your profile picture, click your current status, and choose Reset status or manually set it back to Available.

4/ If you are using the Teams desktop app, clear the Teams cache

    • On Windows, ensure Microsoft Teams is fully closed by right clicking the icon in your system tray (near the clock) and choosing Quit.
    • Press the Windows Key + R to open the Run command.
    • Copy and paste this path into the text field: %userprofile%\appdata\local\Packages\MSTeams_8wekyb3d8bbwe\LocalCache\Microsoft\MSTeams
    • Once the folder opens, select everything inside and delete it.
    • Open Teams again to check if the issue is resolved.
    • Kindly refer the article if you are using Teams on MacOS or Teams classic: Clear the Teams client cache - Microsoft Teams | Microsoft Learn

After making those changes, give Teams a little time to refresh, as presence updates may not always change immediately.

I appreciate your patience and understanding. Hopefully, these steps help clarify the situation and guide you toward resolving the issue.

If Outlook still shows an Out of Office (OOF) message, Microsoft Teams and other presence-aware apps can display a conflicting status (Available but with an OOF note). Turn off OOF in Outlook and make sure calendar-based presence sync is configured correctly.

    1. In Outlook, turn off Automatic Replies (OOF):
      • Select File > Automatic Replies.
      • Select Do not send automatic replies or select Turn off in the Automatic Replies panel.
      • It can take up to 30 minutes for the OOF note to disappear from presence-aware clients.
    2. If Lync/Skype for Business or similar is still in use and synced with Outlook, verify presence sync settings:
      • In the Lync main window, select Options > Personal.
      • Make sure Update my presence based on my calendar information is selected if calendar-based presence is desired.
      • If the OOF note should not appear at all, clear Display my Out of Office information to contacts in my Friends and Family, Workgroup, and Colleagues privacy relationships.
    3. Wait for replication:
      • After turning off Automatic Replies, allow up to 30 minutes for the change to propagate to Teams and other clients. Then restart Teams and Outlook to force a refresh.

If the OOF note still appears after Outlook shows Automatic Replies as off and sufficient time has passed, the issue is likely server-side and should be escalated to the Microsoft 365/Exchange administrator to check mailbox auto-reply configuration.
