My Microsoft account is completely blocked for interactive sign-in.

My Microsoft account is completely blocked for interactive sign-in.

I cannot sign in to any Microsoft website, including:

Important:

  • The account exists and is not locked.
  • Local OneDrive sync still works (but not online)
  • The issue affects ALL web-based sign-in flows.
  • Password resets and different browsers/devices do not help.

I suspect an identity / alias conflict related to my Microsoft Certified Trainer (MCT) registration.

An additional Outlook.com address was added to my account, and since then sign-in is impossible.

Because neither normal sign-in nor the account recovery form is accessible, I need a server-side

identity review and correction (primary alias / identity binding).

Affected account: [Moderator note: PII removed]@liwest.at

Additional alias: [Moderator note: PII removed]@outlook.com

    Hello Clevegal42,

I see that you're having trouble with signing in your Microsoft account. Let me assist you further.

with your case, please try signing in again using the Sign-in Helper. Please follow the guidance here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/account-billing/i-can-t-sign-in-to-my-microsoft-account-475c9b5c-8c25-49f1-9c2d-c64b7072e735

If you regain access even once, you should immediately update your security settings by adding backup methods and enabling password less sign-in. If you cannot access any existing 2FA method, there might no other way to recover.

If you still cannot access to your account, please check if you see any error messages while signing in. So, I'm able assist you better.

I hope this will help with your situation. Please feel free to reach back if you have further update or more questions.

    Best Regards,

Based on the described symptoms (all web sign-ins blocked, ACSR form failing, but OneDrive sync still working), the account is likely under a protection/block condition on Microsoft’s side, not a local password or browser issue. Alias changes and MCT registration cannot be corrected manually by forums or client-side actions; account and alias binding must be handled by Microsoft’s automated systems and support flows.

Actions supported by the available guidance:

    1. Use the Sign-in Helper for blocked Outlook/Microsoft accounts
      • Go to the Sign-in Helper: https://aka.ms/sign-in-helper
      • Follow the flow for “I can’t sign in” / “My Outlook.com account is blocked”.
      • This tool is the primary entry point for blocked Outlook.com / Microsoft accounts and can surface available support options if self-service fails.
    2. Check whether the account is blocked or under a temporary protection lock
      • If the system reports unusual activity, high volume of requests, or a block, this aligns with the documented behavior where Microsoft temporarily blocks sign-in to protect accounts.
      • In such cases, avoid repeated attempts and wait at least 24 hours (up to several days) before trying again, as repeated attempts can reset the lockout timer.
    3. Try alternative verification methods and networks
      • If a specific verification method (e.g., SMS or email) is blocked or rate-limited, switch to another verification method already associated with the account (alternate email, different phone number, or Microsoft Authenticator if configured).
      • Switch networks (e.g., from corporate/VPN to home Wi‑Fi or mobile data). Heavy suspicious traffic from a region or network can cause temporary blocks that may clear automatically.
    4. Use the Microsoft services account reset page for OneDrive/Account blocks
      • For OneDrive-related blocks or “Your account is currently unavailable” messages, use the Microsoft services account reset page: https://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/p/?linkid=874120 and follow the on-screen instructions to check and reactivate the account.
      • If the block was triggered by recent verification or heavy sharing, it may clear automatically within 24 hours.
    5. If verification codes or recovery flows fail with “try another method” or “service temporarily unavailable”
      • This can indicate a temporary block or rate limit on verification methods.
      • Recommended steps:
        • Try another verification method (alternate email instead of SMS, or vice versa).
        • Try another network.
        • Wait at least 24 hours without further attempts, then retry.
        • Use the sign-in helper again after the waiting period.
    6. When self-service and recovery forms fail
      • For Outlook.com/Microsoft account sign-in issues that cannot be resolved with codes or password changes, use the guidance under “When you can’t sign in to your Microsoft account” (linked from the Outlook.com unblock article). That article includes a path to contact support.
      • Contacting support requires signing in with some Microsoft account. If the affected account cannot sign in, create or use another Microsoft account solely to open a support case and describe the blocked account and alias situation.
      • Moderators and public forums (including Microsoft Q&A) cannot manually unlock accounts or adjust alias bindings; account recovery and reinstatement are handled by automated systems and dedicated support channels only.
    7. If the account is determined to be blocked or under review
      • Follow the “Request for Account Reinstatement” or “account reinstatement form” path referenced in the guidance for blocked Outlook.com/Microsoft accounts.
      • After submitting, do not send multiple requests; multiple submissions can slow down processing.

Given the constraints in the documentation, server-side identity or alias conflicts (such as MCT-related alias changes) cannot be directly corrected outside of these official recovery, reinstatement, and support flows.
