So around February someone hacked my laptop and got my accounts. I managed to save all but my Microsoft one and since it was my primary account I cant get into it anymore. Everything was changed from the email, passwords, pin, and phone number. Since all it effected was my Minecraft account I wasn't too upset until now where ive learned that my laptop won't let me sign into any other Microsoft Xbox related account except the one that was stolen due to it being my primary one. I've tried to recover the account but for some reason the Microsoft account recovery page says its not an existing account. Am I just screwed?

The situation described matches a fully compromised personal Microsoft account where the attacker has changed the sign‑in email, password, and security info, and recovery attempts now report that the account does not exist. In this case there are two separate issues:

    1. Whether the old Microsoft account can still be recovered
    2. How to get the laptop working again with a different Microsoft/Xbox account

    From the provided guidance:

    1. For a hacked or compromised Microsoft account:
      • The official path is to use the hacked‑account troubleshooter and Sign‑in Helper: Start.
      • If the account still exists and can be found, follow the steps:
        1. Scan the PC for malware and clean it using Windows Defender or another antivirus.
        2. Change the account password (if sign‑in is still possible) or reset your password.
        3. Check and correct account settings such as connected accounts, forwarding, and automatic replies.
      • If the account recovery and Sign‑in Helper flows say the account does not exist, or all security info has been replaced and cannot be verified, community and support guidance is that the account is effectively unrecoverable. Microsoft Support cannot override this or manually restore access.
    2. When the account is unrecoverable:
      • Moderator guidance for similar cases states that once a hacker has changed the email/phone and the automated recovery form fails, there is no other working method to recover the Microsoft account, and Support cannot help further.
      • For Minecraft specifically, recovery of the game license is not guaranteed if the Microsoft account is lost; users are directed to Minecraft Support separately to see if any options exist.
    3. What can still be done now:
      • Use the Sign‑in Helper anyway to confirm there is no remaining recovery path: Open the Sign-in Helper for support options or hacked account issues.
      • If the account truly cannot be found or recovered, treat it as permanently lost and:
        • Create a new personal Microsoft account.
        • Sign out/remove the old account from Windows and Xbox apps on the laptop and sign in with the new account.
      • If any recovery form is still available (for example, if the account is found but security info was changed), fill it out with as much accurate historical information as possible, following the guidance in “Help with the Microsoft account recovery form.” If that form is repeatedly denied, the account is considered unrecoverable.

In summary: if the Sign‑in Helper and recovery form both fail and the system reports the account does not exist, the old Microsoft account and its attached services (including Minecraft on that account) cannot be recovered. The practical next step is to move the laptop and Xbox services to a new Microsoft account and, if needed, contact Minecraft Support separately about the game license.
