Hello, thank you for reaching out to Microsoft Q&A.

If your account is being recognized as a Child, you won't be able to change your D.O.B. in your Microsoft account directly.

Only the Family Organizer has permission to edit the date of birth on a child's account. To do this, the account must first be part of a Microsoft family group.

    1. Open an incognito tab.
    2. Sign in with your Microsoft account (an Adult Account, not a child's) using the link below. If you don't have another account, create a new dummy Adult account and sign in here. https://account.microsoft.com/family/home
    3. Invite the Child account to the Family group.
    4. Accept the invite from the child group.
    5. Once accepted, you will see your child's account profile on the Family safety settings.
    6. Select Manage consent > Edit child's profile info.
    7. Change the D.O.B. to Adult and remove them from the family group.

Let me know if you still need more help.

    Hey there, nicole tregilgas

It sounds as though you, or someone, has entered a date of birth on your Microsoft account that makes the Microsoft account under 18 which classes you as a child. This would have been on on account creation or through https://account.microsoft.com/profile

To prevent children and young people from bypassing family restrictions and controls, Microsoft has disabled the option for children to change their date of birth on their Microsoft accounts.

Unfortunately, if the date of birth on the account is incorrect, the system won’t automatically unlock when that date reaches 18. Microsoft no longer shows the age‑verification option for accounts that are currently classified as children, so you won’t be able to correct it yourself. Because the date of birth on the account doesn’t match your real ID, the system won’t convert the account to an adult. In this situation, only Microsoft Support can review the account and advise on next steps, although in many cases they are limited in what they can change.

You can, if you are apart of a family group, ask the family organiser to remove restrictions and privacy controls. They can change this by signing into their account. I know this isn't ideal, as it does not fix the underline issue of your date of birth being incorrect on your account. However, this is a workable method for you based on how Microsoft have set up family safety.

I am sorry I can't bring better news regarding your question,
    Nathan
