Turn off Conversation (Thread) View

Hi Jenn Bucki,

Since you're using Outlook Classic, you can easily turn off Conversation view by navigating to View > Messages > Unselect “Show as Conversation”.

Choose “All mailboxes” and then it will change the “Show as” view for all the folders in your account.

To turn off Conversation (thread) view so each email shows separately, use the appropriate steps for the Outlook experience in use.

For Outlook on the web (Outlook.com / new Outlook):

1. Near the upper-right corner, select the Settings button to open the Settings pane.
2. Select Mail > Layout.
3. Under Message organization, select Do not group messages.
4. Select Save.

For Outlook for Mac (if applicable in the environment):

1. On the Outlook menu, select Settings.
2. Under Email, select Reading.
3. Under Conversations, clear or adjust the conversation options as desired.
4. Or, in the View menu, uncheck Show as Conversations to turn off conversation view.

For Outlook mobile (iOS/Android), to disable grouping by conversation:

1. From the message list, tap the mail icon (top-right) to open the folder pane, then tap Settings.
2. Tap Mail.
3. On iOS: tap Email Organization, then toggle Group emails by conversation to Off.
4. On Android: under Threading, choose the desired option so messages are not grouped by conversation.

After these changes, each message appears individually, making it easier to reply to specific emails without using thread view.
