Outlook for Mac Autocorrect Issue

I downloaded a new build of Office 365 to try the latest version of Copilot; after installing, I no longer have use of the hundreds of keyboard shortcuts I rely on in Outlook. They're present and function just fine in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, just not in Outlook. They work fine in Legacy Outlook.

None of the fixes in previous Q&A posts helped remedy the issue (Clearing Application Data, turning off Copilot & optional connected experiences, etc. Beyond those fixes, I've removed plist files, uninstalled & tossed folders from the Library before reinstalling Outlook, all to no avail.

    Hi @TBrown,

Thank you for taking the time to share the detailed troubleshooting steps you’ve already performed. I understand how disruptive this is, especially when you rely heavily on keyboard shortcuts for your daily work in Outlook.

Based on my investigation, the behavior you’re experiencing is not related to corruption, local configuration, Copilot settings, or leftover application files. Instead, this behavior is specific to the current New Outlook experience on macOS, and at this time there is no documented method to restore full keyboard shortcut functionality.

The Copilot - enabled New Outlook is a fundamentally different application from Legacy Outlook. It is built on a modern, web‑aligned framework, and as a result, many long‑standing macOS keyboard shortcuts have not yet reached full parity. This explains why:

    • Keyboard shortcuts continue to work correctly in Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
    • Keyboard shortcuts work as expected in Legacy Outlook
    • The same shortcuts fail only in New Outlook, even after reinstallation and cleanup

At this time, there is no supported fix or configuration change that restores full keyboard shortcut functionality in New Outlook for Mac. However, the following options may help minimize disruption:

1/ Switch back to Legacy Outlook (recommended):

This is currently the only reliable way to regain full shortcut support. Legacy Outlook remains supported while Microsoft continues to improve parity in New Outlook.

2/ Update New Outlook for Mac

Please ensure New Outlook is fully up to date:

    • Open Help > Check for Updates
    • Install all available updates until you are on version 16.108.2 or newer
    • Fully quit Outlook and relaunch it after updating
