    Hello @Aaditya Goyal,

    Thank you for your question.

To use Microsoft 365 Education, it is required to have a school‑issued account that is properly licensed by your institution. Without this type of account, the Education version cannot be activated. I would recommend checking with your school’s IT administrator to see if they provide an official academic account (for example, an email address with a domain such as @university.edu or similar).

Please note that at this time, student ID cards or enrollment documents cannot be used to verify eligibility for Microsoft 365 Education. As an alternative, you may still be eligible for a student discount or up to 12 free months of Microsoft 365 Premium, which includes the desktop versions of Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other applications. You can learn more here: Microsoft Student Discount on Office, Word | Microsoft 365

During the verification process, if you do not have a school email, you can select “Use another method” and then choose “I don’t have an academic email”. From there, you may be asked to verify your student status using other methods, such as:

    • School account details (if available)
    • Enrollment information or a verification code
    • Student ID
    • Documents such as a dated student ID, class schedule, progress report, or acceptance letter

Thank you again for reaching out and for your understanding. While Microsoft 365 Education is not available without a school‑issued email address, the student discount option may help meet your needs in the meantime.

    Kind regards,

Microsoft 365 Education requires that the school be an eligible academic institution and that students sign up using a valid school email address. The self-service offer cannot be activated using only an ID card; a school email/domain is used to verify eligibility.

If the school does not provide student email accounts, there are two main options based on the available information:

    1. Ask the school/IT/admin to participate in Microsoft 365 Education
      • Eligible institutions can sign up for Microsoft 365 Education so students can get access using their school email. The school’s domain must be verified as an academic institution.
      • Admins can start from the education page and complete the academic eligibility verification wizard by providing the school domain. If eligibility is denied, they can review the guidance under academic eligibility.
    2. Use the free web versions or other options
      • Students at eligible institutions can sign up for Microsoft 365 Education for free and use apps like Word, PowerPoint, and Teams from any web browser. If the school is not eligible or does not participate, commercial Microsoft 365 subscriptions or alternative free tools (such as Word for the web or third-party office suites) are options.

If the school ultimately is not recognized as eligible, the guidance is to purchase commercial offers or, if applicable, look into nonprofit offers for organizations that qualify.
