There is no problem with new and web outlook.

I have tried to restart the app and laptop, and sign in and out multiple times. Is there a routine to fix the issue and what could be the root cause?

    Hi GoodPig

Based on my research, the error message “Something went wrong” with code 9hehw in Legacy Outlook for Mac is a correlation tag generated during an authentication error.

    • Restart Legacy Outlook for Mac to refresh cached tokens.
    • If the error persists, please reach out to your admin to check in the Microsoft Entra portal that the app ID 40775b29-2688-46b6-a3b5-b256bd04df9f (Microsoft Information Protection API) is enabled for sign‑in.
    • If necessary, you can try to reset the Outlook profile on Mac (via Profile Manager) to clear cached authentication data.

Additionally, you can consider switching to New Outlook to avoid this issue entirely as a workaround, since it uses a different authentication flow.

I hope this information helps, if you have further questions, please feel free to let me know.
