A video editing tool developed by Microsoft, designed to make video creation easy and accessible for everyone.
Try the following Clipchamp-specific steps to resolve autocaptions stalling near the end of processing:
- Reload Clipchamp
- Reload the browser tab Clipchamp is open in, or close and reopen the Clipchamp Windows app, then try generating captions again.
- Remove and re-add the clip
- Delete the video from the editing project, add the same file back into the project, and run autocaptions again.
- Convert the video to MP4 and retry
- Turn off auto‑captioning for the current clip.
- Export the project so you get an MP4 file.
- Create a new project (or clear the current one), import the exported MP4, and run autocaptions on this new MP4 version.
- This is especially helpful if the original file is WebM or another format, because converting to MP4 can make the audio track easier for the captioning service to process.
- Test with a different source video
- Import a different short video and try autocaptions. If that works, the issue is likely with the original file’s format or encoding.
- Check firewall and browser extensions
- Ensure no firewall (local or corporate) or browser extension is blocking connections to the Azure speech to text service used by Clipchamp.
- If needed, whitelist the service, disable extensions (especially ad blockers, privacy or translation plugins) for Clipchamp, or try another Wi‑Fi/network and test again.
If the problem persists after these steps for all videos and networks, it is likely an issue with how the file is being processed or with connectivity to the Azure speech service, so focusing on MP4 conversion and network/firewall checks is key.
