  • Will Outlook for web ever match some valuable desktop capabilities?
New features still don't cover all the user tools provided in the desktop app.
I work in organisational governance. As a frequent meeting organiser and Minute Taker, I require the ability to update changing attendee responses for reference, and to provide Chairs with accurate attendee lists. As I learn of changes in attendance, such as for illness, leave, etc., I progressively update the attendance lists superiors can access.
Loss of the classic tracking table and forced extra clicks to expand attendee lists are unacceptable downgrades from the desktop app, and why meeting organisers still avoid online migration (which can makes for some instability with online users).
The answer I read to a support question about this topic was not good. 1. It very wrongly said it was a default limitation "for accuracy" - complete opposite. 2. Offering extra steps not required in Desktop is far from helpful advice ("you can write notes against attendee names" - no thank you!) Please restore this capability or it will simply continue to generate extra work for many in administration.

    Dear @SC-5922,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Based on your description, Outlook on the web and the new Outlook experience do not currently provide full feature parity with classic Outlook desktop for meeting and attendee management. Specifically, the classic Tracking table which allows meeting organizers to clearly view, update, and manage attendee responses in a persistent, sortable list is not available in Outlook on the web. Instead, attendee responses are presented in a simplified, collapsed interface that requires additional interaction and does not support the same level of ongoing attendance curation.

At this time, there has not announced a committed roadmap item to restore the classic Tracking table behavior in Outlook on the web. To ensure that your idea reaches the appropriate product team, I recommend submitting it through Microsoft Ideas · Community, which is the official feedback channel reviewed by Microsoft's engineering and product teams. If multiple customers submit the same idea, it can increase the likelihood that it will be considered in future updates.

In the meantime, workaround still is using Outlook desktop app. Once again, I can empathize with the experience you are facing.

If you have any other question, please feel free to reach out.
