Processes in Microsoft 365 for setting up Office apps, redeeming product keys, and activating licenses.
Hi @Arush Jain,
Good day, and I appreciate the clear explanation of your concern.
A - Student eligibility verification
At this time, Microsoft student benefits for Microsoft 365/Office and related education offers are verified exclusively through an eligible school‑issued email address that belongs to the institution’s education tenant (the organization‑managed Microsoft environment).
Microsoft does not offer a manual verification process using personal documents such as student ID cards, fee receipts, or enrollment confirmations. While these documents may validate your student status, a personal Gmail account is not associated with your university’s education tenant. Therefore, even if your enrollment is valid, Microsoft is unable to verify the required organizational relationship when a personal email address is used.
B - Recommended next steps
In this scenario, student accounts and licensing eligibility are managed by the educational institution. For this reason, I recommend that you contact your university’s IT department or campus administration to confirm whether your institution is registered with Microsoft Education.
They can verify the institution’s Microsoft Education registration, and provide you with a school‑issued email address (for example, an address ending in an official university domain such as @edu or the school’s domain).

C - About student licenses and available features
Please note that the features and applications available to you depend on the specific education license assigned by your university (such as Microsoft 365 A1, A3, or A5). For example:
- Some licenses offer web‑based Office apps only (A1),
- While others include the ability to download and install desktop Office applications and additional services (A3, A5).
Your university’s IT department controls which license is assigned, and they can clarify which features are included in your account once it is created.
Once you have a school‑issued email address, you should be able to sign up or sign in for Microsoft 365 student benefits directly at: https://www.office.com
