Via MyApps I can sign into my OneNote Personal from my Personal laptop but not my Corporate OneNote account.
I get 'You cannot sign into this right now'
Your sign-in was successful but does not meet the criteria to access this resource.

For example, you might be signing in from a browser, app, or location that is restricted by your admin.

Should this be possible.

Many Thanks

Graham

The message “Your sign-in was successful but does not meet the criteria to access this resource” indicates that a conditional access or compliance policy in the organization is blocking access to the corporate OneNote account from the current device, app, or location.

This is expected behavior when:

  • The device is not joined to or trusted by the organization.
  • The device is not connected to the corporate network or required VPN.
  • Required multi-factor authentication (two-step verification) has not been completed.
  • The device is considered non-compliant with organizational policies.

To proceed, the corporate admin must adjust the conditional access/compliance policies or confirm that the device is joined and compliant according to organizational requirements. End users cannot bypass this themselves.

If a “Device is not compliant” or similar error appears, ensure the device is joined to the organization’s network and signed in with the work account, then retry access as described in the compliance troubleshooting steps.

    Hello Graham,

I noticed you accepted the AI response but had a follow-up question. The behavior you’re seeing indicates that a Conditional Access policy from your organization has been triggered. These policies are set by your IT administrators and apply specifically to your work account/your organization environment only.

This can happen for a variety of reasons, such as connecting through a VPN, signing in from a different network or location, or using a different device than usual. Only your organization’s IT admin can determine exactly which condition was flagged and whether access can be approved. They have access via Admin Center/Azure portal provided by Microsoft to review such.

For work accounts and company data, all access controls and permissions are managed entirely by your organization’s IT department. Microsoft does not override or modify these policies.

If your goal is to copy content from your corporate OneNote to a personal OneNote account, that would also fall under your organization’s internal data and privacy policies. It’s best to check directly with your IT team to confirm whether this is permitted.
