I just discover that all my videos are now on the cloud when I started Clipchamp. I choose to download them to my local drive but Clipchamp failed to do so. It ask me to contact tech support to recover my video projects. None of my videos previously created are not listed in Clipchamp anymore. Please help.

Have a nice day Happy Healthy!

From what you described, I see that after opening Clipchamp, your previously created videos are now stored in the cloud and attempts to download them to your local drive have failed, prompting you to contact support to recover your projects.

This behavior can happen following Clipchamp’s move to OneDrive‑backed cloud storage for editing projects.

In this setup, Clipchamp projects are tied to your Microsoft account’s OneDrive storage rather than stored locally. When you download a video to your device, Clipchamp must first:

    • Render the project in the cloud
    • Create the exported MP4 file
    • Then save that file either to OneDrive or locally (when you choose Save to your computer)

If this export process fails, Clipchamp may prompt you to contact support because the final downloadable MP4 file was not created.

    Exporting can fail if:

    • One or more media files in the project are corrupted
    • The project is too large for available device resources
    • The app cannot access the original source files needed to render the video

Please try again using these steps:

    1. Click Export
    2. Wait for the purple bar under the title to complete (render progress)
    3. Click Save to your computer to choose a location or use the Downloads pop‑up to open the default saved file.

If the issue continues, please see: Exporting from Clipchamp (Troubleshooting)

For further assistance, please follow the instructions here to contact Clipchamp Support. Since this is a user‑to‑user community forum, we can only share suggestions based on our findings and personal experiences.

Hope this helps. Feel free to post back if you need further clarification.

Don't remember If Content Backup was enabled but I have my original local media files. It is just too much to recreate the Clipchamp projects manually again. There should be an option for one to save the Clipchamp files locally.

All my original media files are still on my local drive. The issue here are the Clipchamp video files. I was informed that they are on the cloud and I can only access them if I choose to store my Clipchamp videos on the cloud. I was given the option to download and save them on my local drive. But it failed to do so.

In Clipchamp, recovery options depend on how the projects and media were stored and backed up.

    1. Check if this is a work/school or personal Clipchamp account
      • For work/school accounts, Clipchamp automatically stores media files in the project’s Assets folder in OneDrive and exported videos in the Exports folder in OneDrive. Open OneDrive and look for:
        • …/Clipchamp/Projects/<project name>/Assets for source media
        • …/Clipchamp/Projects/<project name>/Exports for exported MP4 files
      • If the exported MP4 is missing from Exports, the project must be exported again.
    2. For personal Clipchamp accounts
      • If Content Backup was enabled in the project, media files are backed up in the cloud and Clipchamp can reload them into the project. Open Clipchamp and the project again so it can pull from the backup.
      • If Content Backup was not enabled and the original local media files were deleted or lost, recovery is not possible through Clipchamp.
    3. Check for original recordings and local files
      • For webcam videos or screen recordings created in Clipchamp, when selecting Save and edit, Clipchamp both:
        • Adds the clip to the project timeline, and
        • Saves the original recording (WebM) to the computer’s Downloads folder (or the browser’s default download folder).
      • Check the Downloads folder (and any custom browser download location) for .webm files that match the missing recordings.
      • If videos or images were originally taken on a phone, check the phone’s camera roll, including the Recently Deleted folder.
    4. Check the system Recycle Bin
      • If original media files were deleted locally, check the operating system’s Recycle Bin and restore them if present. Once restored, reopen the Clipchamp project so it can find the files again.
    5. When recovery is not possible
      • If using Clipchamp without Content Backup and the original media files are no longer on the computer (and not in Recycle Bin, Downloads, OneDrive Assets/Exports, or on the phone), the media files cannot be recovered via Clipchamp.

For future projects, enable Content Backup (if available in the plan) and keep separate backups of original media files on the PC, external drives, or online storage to avoid data loss.
