Using Outlook for iOS in educational settings for communication and organization
To get past the authentication prompt and sign in on the phone, complete the sign-in inside the authenticator/broker app and fix any issues that stop it from finishing.
Use these steps:
- Open Microsoft Authenticator (or the Company Portal/primary Microsoft app if that’s what the sign-in is using) on the phone and unlock it if it’s locked.
- Check for any pending approval or code request in the app and approve it or enter the code where requested.
- Make sure notifications are enabled for Microsoft Authenticator on the phone so prompts appear:
- Turn off silent/do‑not‑disturb modes.
- Ensure app notifications are allowed in the device settings.
- Confirm the phone has a working internet connection; if needed, switch between Wi‑Fi and mobile data and try again.
- Ensure the device date and time are correct and set to automatic.
- Update Microsoft Authenticator to the latest version from the app store.
- Try the sign‑in again in Outlook mobile and respond to the prompt in Authenticator.
If the authenticator still does not complete login after these steps, contact the school or organization’s IT admin to reset or reconfigure the sign‑in methods for the account.
