How to update my name on Learn

To change the name on Microsoft Learn so it matches the ID card, the legal name must be updated, not just the display name.

Because the message says “Your legal name change request will require further review. Please contact Credentials Technical Support to update your legal name,” the change must be handled by Credentials Support. Use the official support request flow and select the Microsoft Credentials options as follows:

1. Go to the online support request page: https://www.aka.ms/credentialssupport
2. In the form, set:
   • Product family: Learning
   • Product or Service: Microsoft Credentials
   • Types of Support: Professional No Charge
3. For the category, choose the option that best matches a profile / account / name update under Microsoft Certifications/Microsoft Credentials (for example, a category related to profile or account issues, if available).
4. In the description, clearly state that the legal name on the Learn profile must match the government ID for exams, and that the portal shows: “Your legal name change request will require further review. Please contact Credentials Technical Support to update your legal name.”
5. Include the Learn Username (from Learn Settings) and, if requested, attach a screenshot of the error message.
6. Submit the case and wait for the email from support with the case number and next steps.

If only the public-facing name needs to change (not the legal name used for exams), the display name can be edited directly:

1. Select the profile icon (top right) on Microsoft Learn.
2. Select Settings.
3. Under Personal info, username, and URL, update the Display name.
4. Select Save.

The display name change is immediate and does not require support, but it does not replace the legal name used for identity verification.
