How to get my mail back

I’m really sorry to hear about this situation. I understand how stressful it can be to lose access to important academic emails. 

Based on what you’ve described, this issue is most likely related to how student (education) accounts are managed by your school rather than a problem with the Outlook app itself. 

When a student account expires or is disabled by the school, the associated mailbox is often deactivated first, and then permanently deleted after a retention period defined by the institution 

Creating new login credentials with the same email address does not automatically restore the old mailbox, because the original mailbox may have already been removed from the school’s Microsoft 365 tenant. 

In this case, please Contact your school’s IT admin/Microsoft 365 admin immediately 

• Ask them specifically whether your previous mailbox still exists or can be restored 
• Schools may be able to recover mail only within a limited retention window 
• They can also help you open a support request to Microsoft Technical Support team if you need any further assistance.

Once this is resolved, you may want to: 

• Regularly back up critical academic emails 
• Save attachments to OneDrive or a local device 
• Confirm account expiration policies with your school to prevent future data loss 

I'm sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused. Please note that student email accounts are fully managed by the school, including mailbox retention and deletion. If an account expires or is re‑created, the previous mailbox may not be restored automatically. I recommend contacting your school’s IT or help desk as soon as possible, as they are the only ones who can check whether the old mailbox can still be recovered.
