Hello, we use viva in our environment to track email open rates- however the viva insights outlook plugin is no longer appearing for many users and appears to be moving to insight.cloud.microsoft- however it does not look like there is any way to view these email open rates from there. Is this feature being migrated somewhere else?

Viva email open-rate tracking is not being retired in the documentation provided; it remains part of the Viva Insights personal insights feature set and is still surfaced through the Viva Insights Outlook add-in and inline suggestions, provided users have the required service plans.

    From the available information:

    1. The feature is still documented as active
      • The "Track email and document open rates" experience is described as part of the Viva Insights pane in Outlook, where users can see:
        • How many people opened an email
        • Average reading time
        • How many recipients opened shared documents
      • Users access this via the Viva Insights icon in Outlook and then select either In-context email open rate or Track email open rates.
      • This applies only to users enrolled in an applicable Viva Insights/MyAnalytics service plan and for messages that meet the reporting criteria (for example, typically 5 or more internal Microsoft 365 recipients).
    2. Inline “Track email open rate” suggestions are also still supported
      • When reading a sent email, an inline suggestion can show the percentage of recipients who opened it and, via See more insights, show opens, forwards, and reading time.
      • When composing an email to more than five recipients, a “Track this email” suggestion can appear; selecting it enables tracking, and statistics become available about 15 minutes after sending. These are then visible either by reopening the sent email or by using Track email open rates in the Insights add-in.
    3. Availability depends on licensing and plan
      • The cards that show email read rates and document open rates are explicitly called out as not available with the Insights by MyAnalytics service plan alone.
      • All Viva Insights features (including these cards) are available to users with MyAnalytics (Full) or a Viva Insights subscription.
      • Some related inline suggestions (such as “Track email open rate”) require specific combinations like MyAnalytics (Full) with Office 365 E5 or Insights by MyAnalytics plus a Viva Insights subscription, as detailed in the environment requirements.
    4. If users suddenly no longer see the Outlook add-in
      • The documentation points to checking:
        • That the Viva Insights Outlook add-in is installed and visible (see “Confirm installation of the Viva Insights Outlook add-in”).
        • That users have a qualifying service plan and have not opted out of personal insights.
        • That the environment requirements for Viva Insights personal insights and Outlook add-in prerequisites are met.

Within the provided material there is no indication that email open-rate tracking is being moved from the Outlook add-in/inline experience into insight.cloud.microsoft or that it is being replaced by another surface. The supported and documented way to view these metrics remains through the Viva Insights Outlook add-in and inline suggestions, subject to licensing and eligibility.

If the add-in has disappeared for many users in a tenant despite meeting these documented requirements, the next step based on similar Microsoft 365 guidance would be to have an admin verify add-in deployment and, if needed, open a support ticket so backend logs can be checked for add-in or service issues.
