    Dear @Fiona Miles,

    Welcome to Microsoft Q&A.

Thank you for your response. Based on the description, I understand that the domain pipelineai.tech is not failing due to DNS configuration, website setup, or the Microsoft 365 trial itself, but because it has already been verified and attached to a different Microsoft 365 tenant whose initial domain is Hellopipes.onmicrosoft.com.

According to the information I am aware of, Microsoft 365 and Microsoft Entra ID allow a custom domain to exist in only one tenant at a time. Once a domain is verified in a tenant, it is locked there for security reasons, even if the domain owner can fully control DNS records. This explains why repeated attempts to add or verify the domain result in the same error and why the system appears to loop without allowing the issue to be fixed.

I also understand how confusing this situation can be, especially if you already use Microsoft 365 for work. In that case, your browser may automatically sign you into a different tenant, which makes it difficult to access or even identify the tenant that currently holds the domain. This is why the instruction to “sign in as an admin to the tenant that already has the domain” is hard to follow in practice.

In this situation, I recommend that you sign in to the Microsoft 365 Admin Center using the account associated with your current subscription and contact Microsoft Support through the Help & Support section. When opening the request, explain that your custom domain is already verified in another tenant that you cannot access, while confirming that you are the legitimate owner of the domain. Microsoft’s Data Protection team can then verify ownership, remove the domain from the old tenant, and release it so that you can add it to the correct one.

You can raise support ticket from Microsoft 365 Admin Center>Support>Help & Support.

Once Microsoft Support releases the domain, you should be able to add it normally and continue setting up Microsoft 365 without further issues.

I hope this information helps point you in the right direction. If you run into any issues while trying the steps, or if something still doesn’t feel quite right, please don’t hesitate to reach out again. I’ll do my best to support you however I can.

Looking forward to hearing back from you with any updates or additional details.

    Warm regards,

The domain pipelineai.tech must be added and verified in only one Microsoft 365 tenant at a time, and DNS must be configured correctly at the domain host. The login confusion between the work account and the new trial tenant also needs to be resolved, and direct human support is available.

    Follow these steps:

    1. Check whether the domain is already in another Microsoft 365 tenant
      • The message shows the domain is already associated with the tenant whose initial domain is Hellopipes.onmicrosoft.com (organization “Pipeline AI”).
      • A custom domain can only exist in one Microsoft 365 organization at a time. If pipelineai.tech is already verified in another tenant, it cannot be added to a new trial tenant until it is removed.
    2. If the domain is in a tenant that is controlled
      • Sign in as an admin to the tenant that already has the domain (the one with Hellopipes.onmicrosoft.com).
      • Remove the custom domain pipelineai.tech from that tenant.
      • After removal, sign in to the correct Microsoft 365 admin center for the new subscription and add the domain again using the domain setup wizard.
    3. If the domain is in a tenant that cannot be accessed
      • If the domain was added to a different Microsoft 365 account that cannot be accessed or is unknown, Microsoft 365 Support must be involved to release the domain.
      • This matches the documented case where the error is effectively “domain already added to a different Office 365 account”; the solution is either remove it from the old tenant or contact support so they can help.
    4. Use the domain health and DNS tools once in the correct tenant
      • In the Microsoft 365 admin center for the correct subscription, go to Setup > Domains.
      • Select the custom domain pipelineai.tech and use Check health to see any DNS or configuration issues. The pane will show which DNS records are missing or incorrect so they can be fixed at the DNS host.
    5. Avoid being signed into the wrong organization
      • Sign out of all Microsoft 365 sessions in the browser.
      • Use a private/InPrivate browser window and sign in only with the account that owns the new Microsoft 365 subscription for Pipeline AI.
      • This prevents the portal from automatically switching to the company’s existing tenant where there is no intention to manage pipelineai.tech.
    6. Get human support by phone or from the admin center
      • For Microsoft 365 for business, sign in to the Microsoft 365 admin center with the admin account for the correct tenant.
      • At the bottom right, select Help & Support.
      • In the Support Assistant pane, enter the problem (for example, “domain already added to another tenant / can’t link domain to Outlook”).
      • If self-help does not resolve it, choose Contact support to open a ticket and get a human support agent.
      • If sign-in to the admin center is not possible or the domain is stuck in an unknown tenant, use the regional customer service phone numbers listed on the Microsoft “Customer service phone numbers” support page to reach a live agent and request that a service request be opened for domain-release and tenant-access issues.

These steps ensure the domain is only in one tenant, DNS is correct, and a human support agent can intervene if the domain is locked in a different Microsoft 365 organization.
