If I already have a MS 365 account and I go back to higher education, is there a way for me to get a student discount now?

Thank you

    Dear @Rochelle Richardson,

Thank you for reaching out to the Microsoft 365 Q&A forum. If you are returning to higher education and want to access Microsoft 365 using a student benefit, the first step is to verify what your school provides. Many colleges and universities offer Microsoft 365 Education for free. You can check your eligibility by entering your official school email address here: Get started with Office 365 education

If your email is not automatically recognized or you believe you should have access, I recommend contacting your school’s IT administrator or helpdesk. They are the only ones who can confirm whether your institution participates in Microsoft 365 Education and whether your student account has been properly set up. They can also help you activate your license if there are any issues. If your school does not provide Microsoft 365, you may still be able to access student discounts through the Microsoft Store (if you are eligible as a student)

Please note that your personal Microsoft 365 subscription will not automatically convert to a student plan. You will need to activate the Education license through your school or purchase a discounted plan if eligible. I hope this detailed guide helps you resolve the issue. If you need further assistance checking your eligibility, feel free to let me know. I'm happy to help.

Yes, if you go back to higher education, you can potentially get a student discount on Microsoft 365. To qualify for the discount, you need to verify your academic status. Here’s how you can do it:

    1. Verify your academic status: You will need to sign up using your school-provided email address through Microsoft’s education website to verify your status.
    2. Check eligibility: If your school is part of the program, you can access Microsoft 365 Education, which includes tools like Word, Excel, and PowerPoint for free or at a discounted rate.
    3. Existing account: If you already have a Microsoft 365 account, you may need to check if you can switch to the educational version or apply for the student discount through your certification profile.

Make sure to check with your school’s IT department for assistance with the verification process and to ensure you are eligible for the student discount.
