Can not scan to email since latest update

Since Microsoft Office put out their latest update (Version 2601 (Build 19628.20150)) we have not been able to do HP Scan. We can scan to pdf, but we can not scan to email. It tries to scan to email, but the HP scan closes after unsuccessfully opening Microsoft Outlook. In the event viewer it shows the following.

Faulting module name: olmapi32.dll, version: 16.0.19628.20024, time stamp: 0x69571ed7

Has anyone else had this problem, or know of a fix?

Thanks

    Hi Brian Roberts

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A Forum regarding the olmapi32.dll issue. In the latest Microsoft 365 update (Version 2601 / Build 19628.20150) that affects the Simple MAPI protocol used by third-party scanning applications, including the HP Scan software.

To restore your scanning functionality immediately, I recommend reverting your Office installation to the earlier stability update temporarily, you can see detailed step here: How to revert to an earlier version of Office - Microsoft Support

Once the rollback is complete, please open Outlook, please try to disable update (please keep updates disabled for approximately 2 weeks)

    I hope this information helps.

It seems that you are experiencing issues with scanning to email after a recent update to Microsoft Office. The error you mentioned, particularly with the olmapi32.dll module, suggests that there may be a compatibility issue between the HP scanning software and the updated version of Outlook.

Here are a few troubleshooting steps you can try:

    1. Check Default Mail Client: Ensure that Microsoft Outlook is set as your default mail client. You can do this by going to the Control Panel > Default Programs > Set your default programs, and then selecting Outlook.
    2. Repair Office Installation: Sometimes, repairing the Office installation can resolve issues caused by updates. You can do this through Control Panel > Programs and Features, select Microsoft Office, and then choose the Repair option.
    3. Update HP Software: Make sure that your HP scanning software is up to date. Check the HP website for any updates or patches that may address compatibility with the latest version of Outlook.
    4. Reinstall HP Software: If the issue persists, consider uninstalling and then reinstalling the HP scanning software to ensure it is properly configured.
    5. Check Event Viewer: Since you mentioned the Event Viewer, continue to monitor it for any additional errors that may provide more context on the issue.

If these steps do not resolve the issue, you may want to reach out to HP support or check forums for similar issues reported by other users after the update.
