I understand how confusing it can be when you start a Visio 30‑day trial but can’t sign in because the username isn’t clear.
When a Visio Plan 1 or Plan 2 trial is started without signing in with an existing Microsoft account, Microsoft automatically creates a temporary organizational account that ends with .onmicrosoft.com. This account is the only one that can access the trial. Here are the steps that may help you access or cancel the trial.
Please check the trial welcome/confirmation email you received. It may contain a line similar to: “Signed in as: ******@tenant.onmicrosoft.com”. That is the username created for your trial. Once you locate that username, go to: https://portal.office.com and try signing in using the full .onmicrosoft.com address and the password you created during signup.
If you cannot access the trial using this step, or you are unable to locate the generated .onmicrosoft.com account, then the next step is to contact Microsoft Support: Contact - Microsoft Support. They can help verify ownership of the trial and assist with either regaining access or canceling it:
- In the search box, type keywords related to your issue such as “Visio trial” or “can’t sign in”, then select Get help.
- Choose Sign in to contact support (you will sign in using your personal Microsoft account).
- Under Products and services, choose the closest match such as Microsoft 365 and Office.
- Under Category, select Manage my subscription.
- Follow the steps until you reach the Confirm page.
Please note:
- Because this is a temporary tenant created during signup, support may require identity verification for your temporary tenant, and processing time can vary depending on the case.
- If the window says support is unavailable, try again later or the next day.
Please let me know how you get on, as your feedback is valuable to the community.
