Organizing and editing contact information within Microsoft Teams Free
Thanks for sharing the details, Lindsay! Try to re-enable the Microsoft Account Identity Provider in Windows (This restores lost cloud tokens for Teams Personal)
When you renew Microsoft 365 Personal, Windows sometimes invalidates or disconnects your Microsoft Account identity provider, which Teams uses to pull consumer contacts from Outlook.com.
How to do it
Open Windows Credentials Manager
- Press Windows Key
- Type Credential Manager
- Open Credential Manager (Control Panel)
Go to “Web Credentials”
This is where Windows stores:
- Microsoft Account cloud tokens
- Teams Personal auth tokens
- Outlook.com contacts connectors
Look for any of these entries and remove them:
Delete all of the following if present:
MicrosoftAccount:user=<your email>
virtualapp/didlogical
identityprovider.microsoft.com
Any entry containing:
teams.microsoft.com
`skype`
`people.live.com`
`outlook.com token`
These are safe to remove, Windows will regenerate them on the next login.
Restart Windows (Important!)
This forces Windows to request fresh authentication tokens from Microsoft’s cloud.
Sign back into Teams Personal
When Teams opens:
It will ask you to sign in again
Windows will generate new cloud identity tokens
Teams will pull your Outlook contacts again
You should be seeing your contacts return within 1–2 minutes after login.
See if this helps. If you need further assistance just let me know.
Best regards,
Kimberly
