Hi, A Garcia
Welcome to Microsoft Q&A forum.
Sorry for this frustrating experience with Clipchamp. Here are some workarounds you can try to resolve the issue and continue your project:
First, protect your project and try a quick workaround
Use the web app to continue editing
- Open Edge or Chrome, go to https://app.clipchamp.com , then sign in with the same Microsoft account you used originally.
Confirm you are using the same account everywhere
- In Windows > Settings > Accounts > Your info, make sure you are signed into Windows and the Microsoft Store with the same account you use for Clipchamp. Mismatched accounts often trigger “Something went wrong.”
If you still see “Something went wrong,” work through these fixes in order
A. Refresh authentication and the Store plumbing
- Sign out, then back in to Clipchamp, and also sign out/in of your Microsoft account in Windows > Settings > Accounts > Your info.
- Repair the app Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Clipchamp > Advanced options > Repair. If that fails, try Reset. Reset clears local app cache which fixes many auth loops.
- Install all Windows and Microsoft Store updates Settings > Windows Update > Check for updates. Then open Microsoft Store > Library > Get updates.
B. Clear caches that commonly break sign‑in
- Clear browser data if you use the web app Update Edge or Chrome, clear cache for All time, disable extensions temporarily, and avoid Incognito while editing.
- Clear temp files on Windows Press Win+R, type
%temp%, delete contents. This helps when the app keeps failing to start cleanly.
C. Fix components Clipchamp depends on
Graphics drivers
- Update your GPU driver from Device Manager, then restart. Some Clipchamp errors show up only during sign‑in or startup and are driver‑related.
Network and security software
- Try a different network or hotspot. Temporarily disable VPN or strict firewalls that might block authentication endpoints. If you are on a work or school network with a proxy, test on a home network.
If the desktop app still will not authenticate
Try this clean sequence which preserves your online projects:
Back up local media
- Make sure your project’s source videos, images, and audio are still present in your folders or OneDrive so you can relink if needed.
Reset Clipchamp
- Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Clipchamp > Advanced options > Reset. Then launch and sign in.
Use the web app for final export
- Sign in at https://app.clipchamp.com and export there if the desktop app keeps failing.
Hope this helps. Feel free to get back if you need further assistance.
