Here’s your message rewritten into a professional and polished version that keeps your frustration clear but expresses it respectfully and effectively:

Subject: Request for OneDrive Reset Assistance

Dear [Recipient’s Name],

I hope you’re doing well. I’ve been reaching out regarding an issue with my OneDrive storage since the first week of this semester. I’ve visited the Nerd Herd multiple times and called IT numerous times, but unfortunately, I keep receiving the same response—to click the reset button in the settings. I’ve attempted that many times, but it does not work due to what appears to be a permissions or legal restriction issue.

After troubleshooting on my own, I believe I’ve identified the cause. My OneDrive storage became completely full from video files I was managing for GCU Lacrosse. You can confirm this with Coach Jeff Guy if needed. Because my storage is maxed out, Word’s autosave and other Microsoft 365 features no longer function properly. The problem has also worsened after installing SolidWorks, which relies on available OneDrive space for some operations.

At this point, I simply need my OneDrive account wiped or fully reset so I can start fresh and restore normal functionality. I understand there may be legal or policy-related retention requirements, but I would greatly appreciate if someone could authorize a reset or guide me through the proper process to make this happen.

Thank you for your time and understanding.

Best regards, Removed PII

    Dear @Daniel A Johnson,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum.

Please understand that our forum is a public platform, and we will modify your question to cover your information in the description. Please notice to hide these personal or organization information next time you post error or some information to protect personal data.

Based on your description, I sincerely empathize with your feeling. In case you want your OneDrive account wiped or fully reset so you can start fresh and restore normal functionality.

At first, you can contact to your IT/admin of your school so they can help you to wipe out your OneDrive. Admins can delete and recreate a OneDrive site, but that’s typically guarded by retention policies, legal holds, or institutional data governance. If a legal/retention policy is active, deletion will be blocked until the policy is adjusted. (This is why you’ve likely been told to “reset” locally rather than change the site.)

If policy allows, they can export/archive the GCU Lacrosse videos to a governed SharePoint library, then purge your OneDrive (including both recycle bins) to free space.

Important: please download or backup all your data, files or items, because once you wipe out, reset your OneDrive, all data will be deleted.

In the meantime, Microsoft 365 Education uses shared storage pools across OneDrive, SharePoint, and Exchange. Even if individual users have space, shared usage can cause you to reach your tenant-wide limit.

I hope information above helpful, if you have any other questions, please feel free to reach out.

If you're experiencing issues with maxed-out OneDrive storage and have already attempted the suggested troubleshooting steps, here are a few additional actions you can consider:

    1. Clear Cached Files: Sometimes, the Microsoft Office Upload Center can affect OneDrive syncing. You can try clearing cached files from the Upload Center. To do this:
      • Find the Microsoft Office Upload Center icon in your taskbar.
      • Right-click the icon and choose Settings.
      • Select Delete cached files and confirm the action.
    2. Stop and Resync Libraries: If clearing the cache does not resolve the issue, you might want to stop syncing the library and then sync it again. This can help refresh the connection and clear any issues related to the storage limit.
      • Follow the steps to stop syncing a library and then start syncing it again to get fresh data.
    3. Check for Restrictions and Limitations: Ensure that the files you are trying to sync do not fall into any restrictions regarding the number of items, size, or invalid characters. You can refer to Microsoft's documentation for a detailed list of these limitations.
    4. Contact IT Support Again: If the above steps do not resolve the issue, consider reaching out to your IT department again. Provide them with detailed information about the steps you've taken and the specific issues you're facing. It may help to escalate the issue if necessary.
    5. Consider a OneDrive Reset: As a last resort, if your OneDrive is still not functioning properly, you may need to request a full reset of your OneDrive account from your IT department, as you mentioned in your message.

These steps should help you address the storage issue and restore normal functionality to your OneDrive.
