Anytime I try to log into Word or PowerPoint apps on my iPad with my school account I receive a network connection error. I am able to access all the Microsoft365 apps on the web browser with my school login but I am missing certain features that the apps offer. The only Microsoft app that my school login works with is Outlook.

    Dear @Drew K,

Thank you for posting your question in the Microsoft Q&A forum. I understand you're encountering a persistent network connection error when trying to sign into the Word and PowerPoint apps on your iPad with your school account, even though other services like Outlook and the Microsoft 365 web apps work fine.

To help me narrow down the cause, could you please provide the following details?

    1. Are you on the latest version of iOS on your iPad?
    2. Have you experienced this issue with any other Microsoft apps, or is it just Word and PowerPoint?
    3. Is there any specific error message apart from the network error that you receive?

In the meantime, please try the following official troubleshooting options which usually resolve issues with basic issues:

Option 1: Check app updates:  Ensure the Word and PowerPoint apps are updated to the latest version. Outdated apps can sometimes cause login issues. You can check for updates in the Apple App Store under "Updates."

Option 2: Reinstall the apps:  Try uninstalling and reinstalling the Word and PowerPoint apps. This can resolve corrupted app data causing the login error.

Option 3: Verify account permissions:  Your school account might have specific policies restricting access to certain apps. Contact your school’s IT administrator to confirm that your account has permissions to use Word and PowerPoint on mobile devices.

Since you are using a school account, there is a possibility that the license assigned to you may not include the right to install and use the desktop/mobile apps.

Please contact your school's IT support or administrator and ask them to verify your Microsoft 365 subscription license. Specifically, they need to ensure your account has a license that includes the "The latest desktop version of Office" option enabled.

Option 4: Clear App Cache:  While iOS doesn’t allow direct cache clearing for individual apps, you can offload the app (via Settings > General > iPad Storage) and reinstall it to clear temporary data.

Option 5: Network Restrictions:  Some school networks block access to Microsoft apps outside the browser. Try connecting to a different network (e.g., personal Wi-Fi) to see if the issue persists.

Option 6: Use the correct Sign-In method:  Ensure you’re using the correct sign-in method, such as entering your full school email address and being redirected to your school’s authentication portal if required.

Please understand that our initial response may not fully resolve the issue or meet your expectations immediately. However, with your help, patience, and more detailed information, we can work together to find the most suitable solution or direction forward.

If the issue continues, please provide the exact error message or code you’re receiving. This will help us investigate further.

We’re here to assist you and hope this resolves your problem. Thank you for your patience and for using Microsoft 365.
