Screenshot 2025-09-12 100915.pngHello, I am have a problem with my personal vault, it keeps telling me that the name is not allowed but it just says "Personal Vault" so im confused why its not allowed, it wont sync my folders until I fix it pleas help.

Hi Ayden Kahn,

Thanks for reaching out. I had a look at your screenshot, and the issue seems to be with the folder name "Personal Vault". OneDrive actually reserves that name for its secure storage feature, so using it for a regular folder or shortcut can cause sync errors like the one you're seeing: "This item name or type isn't allowed."

To fix it, just rename the folder to something else maybe something like "Secure Files", "Vault Folder", or "PrivateDocs". Once you do that, OneDrive should start syncing again without any problems.

I renamed it to Secure files and it seemed to work, though the cloud is still grey but it says that the files are synced is there a reason for that?

Glad to hear renaming the folder worked and syncing is back on track!

About the grey cloud icon that usually means the files are synced but are stored online-only. So they’re not taking up space on your device unless you open them. It’s totally normal and doesn’t mean there’s a problem.

I have tried everythinig as well. Even placed it in another map. But nothing works.

The one that workd for me: I moved the contents of existing Vault and deleted the vault folder altogether.It reappeared again! ANd it solved my problem.
