I am admin of the All Department Viva Engage community (LINK removed PII).

I want to turn off auto captions for video posts by default. I know how to turn them off manually for each video after it gets uploaded, however, would like to turn it by default for all video posts in the future.

Hi Irfan Khan

Thank you for reaching out to the Q&A forum regarding your question about auto captions in Viva Engage. We truly appreciate your engagement and the thoughtful feedback you've provided.

At this time, Viva Engage does not offer a global administrative setting to disable auto captions by default for all video posts within a community. Captions are currently managed on a per-video basis after upload, which aligns with the manual workflow you’ve been following. We understand this limitation may cause inconvenience, and we sincerely apologize for any disruption it may have caused to your content management process.

Given the current platform capabilities, your existing method of manually configuring captions remains the most effective workaround. We recognize the importance of having more streamlined controls, especially for community administrators like yourself who manage large volumes of content.

Please note that we are moderators of the forum and do not have access to backend configuration or product engineering controls. Our role is to help guide users based on available documentation and current platform capabilities. In light of this, we strongly encourage you to share your feedback through the https://feedbackportal.microsoft.com/. Your voice plays a vital role in shaping future enhancements, and we believe this feature request could significantly benefit many users across the platform.

Additionally, we recommend regularly reviewing the https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-365/roadmap?msockid=18ae923805ea62b60ca687c1042d633c&searchterms=viva&sortby=Preview+Availability%3A+Newest+to+oldest, where upcoming updates and feature releases are published. This is a helpful resource to stay informed about improvements that may address your needs in the near future.

Once again, we apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope this information is helpful, and we’re here to support you with any further questions or concerns.
