Outlook (Classic) will not open. Even the loading page does not start. All I get when I click the icon in the hourglass just for a quarter of a second. Outlook does not show up in task manager so I cannot even close it. It will not run in safe mode. I've even tried creating a new profile. It's as if the app is just gone although it is located in the proper directory. I have also tried Microsoft 365 repair both on and offline. I have tried reinstalling the app from both a download page i found and the Microsoft store page. The only thing that even worked was to go back to a previous restore point. But once Microsoft updated again the problem returned. I have also uninstalled the new Outlook (which does work) from my computer. But classic outlook doesn't work. the big issue for me is that classic Outlook has all my calendars and appointments. I need it back.

I am going to answer my own question. I'm a Microsoft 365 Insider. There is a bug in the most recent update. I reverted back to the previous build.

    This is how:

    1. Open Command Prompt as Administrator

Press Start, type cmd, then right-click Command Prompt and choose Run as administrator.

    1. Run the Rollback Command

Paste the following command into the Command Prompt and press Enter:

    cd %programfiles%\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\ClickToRun

    Then you can run:

    officec2rclient.exe /update user updatetoversion=16.0.19107.20000

    Hi David Richmon,

Have a good day and welcome to Microsoft Q&A Forum!

First of all, I want to sincerely thank you for sharing such a detailed description of the issue you encountered with Outlook (Classic) after updating to Microsoft 365 Beta (Build 16.0.19107.20000) from July 9th. I completely understand how frustrating and disruptive it can be, especially when Outlook contains important data like your calendar and appointments.

Please know that you are not alone! Many other customers have also reported similar issues with this update. Even the most recent Insider beta build released on July 17th (16.0.19115.20000) has not fully resolved the problem, and several users are still experiencing difficulties with Outlook.

I truly appreciate your initiative in troubleshooting and finding a solution by rolling back to a previous version. This is currently the most effective workaround for Insider users facing this issue. For anyone else experiencing similar problems, I highly recommend reverting to a previous, stable version of Office following Microsoft’s official instructions here: How to revert to an earlier version of Office and waiting for Microsoft to release a fully fixed update.

On a positive note, there is good news: the latest Insider Build 2508 V 16.0.19119.20000 has just been released, and Outlook is reported to be working normally again. You may want to try updating to this version to see if it resolves the issue for you.

Once again, thank you for sharing your experience and solution. Your feedback is extremely valuable and will help other users quickly identify and resolve similar problems.

Wishing you all the best in your work and with Microsoft products!
