I have a Vivo V25 Pro running Android 13, and I installed the Microsoft Defender app on both my laptop and mobile. However, the web protection on my Android device keeps getting disabled every time. Does anyone have an idea to prevent the web protection from getting disabled?

    Hello,

    I have an android.

I found that certain accessibility apps and settings messed with my VPN as both technically use Accessibility in their operations.

If you have anything third part like a special keyboard or swipe gesturing rather than buttons (back buttons home button open apps, not keyboard swiping) such like I had after Samsung did away with their older (better) swipe gesturing. The VPN was either locked on or off with the "It seems that another application is preventing" text popping up on screen. There may be something there to check for you if another accessibility app periodically comes on.

If you think there may be a problematic app, go into "excluded apps" in MS Defender's VPN settings and add it there. It fixed my VPN problem.

    Best of luck!

    Hi Sujal Soans

Thank you for posting in the Microsoft Community forum.

I understand that you're experiencing issues with the web protection feature in Microsoft Defender for Android. I understand how challenging this can be, but I'm here to help you resolve this issue.

The cause of the problem could be due to several reasons, such as outdated software, conflicting apps, or incorrect settings. To troubleshoot this issue, I would recommend the following steps:

    1. Check for updates: Ensure that both your Microsoft Defender app and your Android operating system are up to date. You can do this by going to the Google Play Store and checking for updates.
    2. Disable conflicting apps: Some apps may interfere with the web protection feature in Microsoft Defender. Try disabling any third-party antivirus or security apps that you may have installed on your device.
    3. Check the app settings: Make sure that the web protection feature is enabled in the Microsoft Defender app settings. You can do this by opening the app, tapping on the three horizontal lines in the top left corner, selecting "Settings," and then ensuring that the "Web protection" toggle is turned on.
    4. Clear cache and data: Clearing the cache and data of the Microsoft Defender app can sometimes resolve issues. To do this, go to your device's settings, select "Apps & notifications," find the Microsoft Defender app, and then select "Storage & cache." From there, you can clear the cache and data.

If none of these steps work, please let me know, and we can explore other solutions.

    Sincerely,

    ReynaldoB
