Hi Ian, Im an Independent Advisor here to help you! I understand your frustration. You can try these steps to fix the error. Go to family.microsoft.com and log in with your Microsoft account. You will see More options ... beside your name and choose Leave family group then click remove to confirm. It should remove you completely and disable any family restrictions in the web or press Win + I then accounts then family & other users. There will be "Your family" there and it might say that your own account is a child just click it and select manage family setting online and it will redirect you to the website where you can do the steps above.

New laptop and for some reason my Microsoft account now has family safety features enabled even though I've never noticed them prior to now. I've tried online recommendations to resolve, but nothing is working and the screen doesn't reflect what is in the discussions. New Microsoft 11 version. Also tried microsoft family safety and it won't let me make an account without the "parent" allowing permission even though my personal account is the only one in the Microsoft family page. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Methods tried:
- Going to "services.msc" and disabling it there. Didn't work even though it says its disabled.
- Disbanding the family, couldn't find a tab
- Changing the birthdate on my account but still hasn't worked. My wife seems to have defaulted as the authoriser even though I am the administrator, but I can't do anything other than add people or basis changes to member or administrator.
Lost and frustrated.
