Can my authenticator app to be cleared of it's connection to Instagram from the Microsoft side?
What’s happening is that Instagram still thinks my account is linked to the old Authenticator app, even though the app itself no longer has any of my accounts. This is common when 2FA is set up, but the app is wiped or reinstalled without backup. Unfortunately, the connection is stored on Instagram’s side, not in the app, which is why it keeps asking for a code.
The reasons why I can’t Break the Connection Yourself is because The Authenticator app is just a code generator. It doesn’t control the connection, Instagram does and since I can’t log in, I can’t go into Instagram’s settings to remove or reset 2FA.
I was told to start a chat here to have Authenticator Support disable your account from being link to the authenticator app and then I can inform Meta my Instagram account no longer link to authenticator app so they will no longer be asking for a code OR so I can restore my account by using email address and password only.
Some back story:
About a month ago, my Authenticator app stopped working. I couldn't get into it after using my pin code to sign in. I had to uninstall the app and reinstall the app. When I reinstalled it, all of the accounts I had linked it to were gone. I tried to recover what had been in there before but I didn't see an option. So I started adding things back slowly. My issue, 2 of my Instagram profiles couldn't be loaded back as it wanted a QR code and I couldn't get one. Everything was still working until I had to reset my passwords because of a documented Meta data breach. It let me reset my password but to get into my profile it wants the 6 digit code from my authenticator app, only it's not in my authenticator app anymore. You said: I tried going to Meta support, something I had to pay to get access too, and they are refusing to help me. First time they ended the chat for no response because I was sleeping, and they said they couldn't help me because I didn't give the correct email even though every other detail was correct. They told me to contact Microsoft. You said: I tried going to Meta support, something I had to pay to get access too, and they are refusing to help me. Meta now has me waiting, 2 weeks now for the new claim I opened about the same issue, and they are dragging it out claiming its with their specialized team, but there is nothing to look into or investigate. From them I need an 8 digit back-up code which they won't give me, or I need the 6 digit authenticator code linked to @smil.crew on Instagram, which I also can't get.
