X-Unsent: 1 doesn't work on windows 11 and new outlook

Hello,

I generate an eml file but the header X-Unsent doesn't work anymore on the new outlook version (windows 11).

How can I specify the mail is a draft ?

I have the same issue, "X-Unsent" header does not seem to effect the functionality of the new outlook.

Unfortunately, including the X-Unsent header in .eml files isn't a reliable way to mark emails as drafts in newer versions of Outlook, including those on Windows 11.

You may try:

Compose your email in Outlook.

Go to "File" and select "Save As."

Choose the file format "Outlook Message Format (*.eml)" from the "Save as type" dropdown.

Select a location to save the .eml file.

If adding an X-Unsent header is not reliable, what other header should I use to get the same result? I need a solution that I can automate from any programming language, not instructions on how to do it using Outlook GUI?

SAVE AS and the opening again in New Outlook doesn't work either. It is still not seen as a draft message.

We need to open the .eml file as draft, just like the current outlook.
The X-Unsent is not working in New Outlook.

Hi, I just tried opening an EML file with "X-Unsent: 1" header with "Outlook (new)", and it seems to work correctly. Maybe this has been fixed in recent upgrades of New Outlook.

FIXED

It's now working as of these versions:

Microsoft Outlook Version: 1.2026.105.100

Client Version: 20260109002.06

WebView2 Version: 143.0.3650.139
