I tried creating a VM and then got this error message about my Azure Subscription. ( attached in the photo) Note that I'm a new user and just signed up on 4th June and everything was working fine till yesterday. I still have about 199usd free credits which I use for my learning. I'm on a free trial which is scheduled to expire in 19 days. I'm learning an Azure course on udemy and I really need to utilise it.

I can understand you are facing issue when trying to create virtual machine with error to use different subscription without spending limit or remove spending limit. This is because the subscription used is benefit subscription( free trial subscription) where we have a fixed limit of credit of 200$ and exhausting it will stop the resource by default or you will be prompted to upgrade to Pay-as-you-go. Using certain VM image will exhaust this limit even just with deployment due to the cost and this can stop the VM leading to disruption on service.
So, in order to proceed with same subscription, please follow the steps shared in the document section to remove the spending limit: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/cost-management-billing/manage/spending-limit#remove-the-spending-limit-in-azure-portal

Hi @dkrishnaveni-MSFT this is also happening on an Azure Visual Studio MPN subscription since June.
We cannot deploy VM with a windows server version older than 2022 or windows 11 vms.
Before we were able to deploy all kind of images.
For me , Mainly issue occurred when selected windows 2016 OS , tried with windows 2022 OS it worked well.
Other services like recovery vault , azure backup , App services can be configured with the same visual studio subscription.

free VM creation process is frustrating because of this message

Hi @dkrishnaveni-MSFT -- I have the same error. The subscription I use is the Azure subsctiption1 - when trying to create a virtual machine, it gave me an error [This virtual machine requires a subscription without any spending limit or temporary payment method set. Use a different subscription or update your subscription (requires account administrator privileges)How do we resolve this issue? Please help me.

What's going on with this Microsoft? I have an MSDN subscription to be able to demo \ test solutions for clients, now I am stuck.

In the same situation with an MSDN subscription. In my case I had to choose a 22H2 Windows image instead of a 22H3 Windows image to get rid of the subscription spending limit warning.
I wish Microsoft would fix this issue permanently. It appears that they are fixing it image by image.

This issue has been fixed as of today, as confirmed by the internal teams.
Issue summary: Customers were receiving this error when trying to create a VM with specific images
Error - [This virtual machine requires a subscription without any spending limit or temporary payment method set. Use a different subscription or update your subscription (requires account administrator privileges) at Account Center to continue]
This issue has been resolved. Customers should be able to create Windows Server, Windows 10, Windows 11 offers without seeing this error now.

This issue is NOT resolved for me. I am a Microsoft Certified Trainer with a Visual Studio Enterprise benefit subscription. I need to create the Visual Studio VMs, but I can not anymore due to the abovementioned error.
This issue touches ALL Visual Studio VM images and ALL Visual Studio Microsoft Dev Box images. Please resolve the issue.
In other words, the affected configurations are any Visual Studio VMs:
As a Microsoft Certified Trainer, I need to continue learning. Hence the abovementioned VMs are crucial for me.

Today I still have this issue with all VM images which contain Visual Studio, for example image vs-2022-ent-latest-win11-n.
I have plenty of credits. Which won't be consumed just by deploying such a VM. As I use it a few hours a month also the variable usage cost will be well within this limit.
Issue on multiple accounts / subscriptions. As I am not allowed to remove a spending limit on the employer supplied Azure I cannot solve this issue myself.

@AdamDziomdziora-6524 Can you validate if you are hitting issues other than the "spending limit" one when using the "Dev Box compatible" images?
If the only issue is the spending limit, you'll have to remove it per the comments by @dkrishnaveni-MSFT

I am MCT aswell and need visual studio images in the MSDN subscription for Azure. I am getting the same error message about the spending limit, tried all the VS images out there. This always worked and is crucial for my courses. What has happened, why did this go unannounced? What is the solution? Is this reversable? Please help out Microsoft...
All visual studio images (I've tried them all) give me the above error. Can anyone help on this issue?

Just ran into this issue today as well. I can't use my Visual Studio Enterprise Subscription to create a Visual Studio Enterprise 2022 VM because of this error. So either the issue wasn't fixed, or it reappeared. Please resolve this.
Here is the workaround until Microsoft fixes the issue. Use the template listed in this git repo and you should be able to create a VM for Visual Studio -
