I had a similar problem, but I already have AWS and GCP subscriptions with my revolut account so I've decided to stay with them. The services are broadly similar across the different cloud providers and you can do windows hosting on both AWS and GCP anyway.
Revolut debit card is declined
Hi,
I want to sign up for an Azure subscription with my Revolut VISA debit card but I am getting rejected. The error message states
Sorry, we can't accept pre-paid cards. Please try another payment method.
But the card is not pre-paid. It is a regular physical (not virtual!) debit card. What's the catch?

Why is Microsoft Azure not accepting Revolut Business?

Any idea @Microsoft?
Thanks

2023-03-24T12:05:38.5166667+00:00 I think this is similar to "IBAN Discrimination" https://blog.revolut.com/fighting-against-iban-discrimination/
I don't think 'Try another card' is an acceptable answer, what if individuals do not have an alternative. As the other posters have mentioned this is not a pre-paid card and no different to any other card linked to a valid bank account.

2023-04-24T15:30:21.74+00:00 The problem still hasn't been solved. :/ This is actually illegal in the EU on the part of Microsoft. Article 9 of the SEPA Regulation states that companies have to accept all registered banks in the SEPA area.

I've just found out this is an issue with Revolt Business debit cards.
Sorry, we can't accept pre-paid cards. Please try another payment method.
Any updates on this?
Sadly, if this is not fixed within a few days I'll try AWS.
Thank you!

This is a farcical problem.

2023-06-09T21:32:18.2566667+00:00 Dead end?
Even as an MVP?This cost me a day of support with MS, time and effort on both sides.
When trying to add an Azure subscription to my account is just declined saying I am not eligible for an Azure account - no mention of the card.
Then to cap it all off the Azure Portal went down. 2023-06-09 15:00 BST
I used a personal card from a different bank and it worked, its only when I tried to add the Revolut card to my account later that it gave the error (as above).
This is a Mastercard credit card, I've had no problems elsewhere, we should at least get an explanation as to why.
I expect its a bug.

2023-11-17T18:23:40.1+00:00 This is still an issue in November 2023. Live chat agent was not able to help, and didn't seem aware of the issues with Revolut cards.
This thread suggests that Microsoft should update their BIN database:
https://community.revolut.com/t/cards-bin-lookup-says-debit-but-azure-subscription-says-prepaid/234669As a potential Azure subscriber, this isn't a good look. As others have mentioned I guess I will have to try the competition instead.

2024-01-26T15:29:53.3333333+00:00 This is incredibly frustrating, how can we not use a major bank's VISA card? AWS accepts it no problem, this forces us to choose Amazon over Microsoft.

2024-02-27T14:46:21.42+00:00 Obviously nobody from Microsoft is reading or responding to this thread. Unless you absolutely need to run a Windows VM for your website (which very few people need to do these days) , I suggest you just use Google Cloud or Amazon AWS. I'm on both with my Revolut business banking and there has never been any issue with either. Going to unsubscribe from this question now.

2024-02-29T23:47:42.71+00:00 Having got it worked for me after reporting the issue to Azure support, and hearing that people are still having issues, I reported this back to them. They've suggested that people can create service requests on the Azure portal "as creating a request is without limitations for [them] to validate the issue":
At the bottom left of the Azure portal page, there's a button to create a "New support request". They got this working for me pretty quickly, 2-3 working days and it was sorted.
If they do this for enough people, hopefully they'll fix it for everyone. Anyone else try giving that a go? PS. In response to the above email, I have pointed out to them that there is already a Community Idea to support Revolut cards, and it's been open for over 6 months already.

2024-08-10T20:27:36.47+00:00 Open a curve account (its free)
Basically you will get a Curve CreditCard and all transactions will be redirected to your Revolut Debit Card.
Azure does correctly categorize this curve card as a 'non pre paid' and lets you use it. Hope this helps.-

2023-12-29T08:55:32.9966667+00:00 Hi all,
I wanted to let you all know that I think this is fixed now, woohoo! 🙌
I initially raised an issue with the Chat pop-up button on the Azure free sign-up page, then mentioned to the support guy that I am actually a Microsoft Partner and Reseller, but ironically I can't sign up my company for this free service! The support guy agreed that I couldn't sign up for this anywhere else, so referred to the Microsoft Partner Centre Support team, who then referred me again to the Azure Customer Service team. I kept forwarding a link to this page and now, after just two days, I was able to sign up with my UK-based Revolut Business MasterCard debit card.
Hopefully that should work with you guys, too. I've not tried with a Revolut Personal card (don't need to sign up twice, of course!).
Good luck all!
Best wishes,
Alex
