About This Guide

The Infrastructure Planning and Design Guide for Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager 2007 has been updated for R3 and now includes Forefront Endpoint Protection! This guide leads the reader through the process of planning a Configuration Manager infrastructure and optionally a Forefront Endpoint Protection (FEP) infrastructure. The guide has been revised to include new enhancements in Configuration Manager 2007 R3 such as enhanced scalability and performance, power management, operating system deployment improvements and more. FEP uses Configuration Manager’s capabilities to perform tasks such as deploying antimalware clients, enforcing security policies on endpoints, managing devices, and alerting administrators to events related to FEP.
