Cannot Access Microsoft 365 Account – Domain Locked After Failed Signup

Yesterday I tried to set up Microsoft 365 for my company domain. I first created an account with Admin@[mydomain].com and another with [username]@[mydomain].onmicrosoft.com. After entering my credit card, the system froze twice.

Now I’m stuck:

I cannot sign in to either account.

Password reset and account recovery don’t work.

  • The domain appears to be “burned” (locked/taken), so I can’t create a new account with it.

My credit card shows two charges, but I don’t know if they are actual charges or pending authorizations.

I cannot open a support ticket in the Admin Center because I never got access to one.

Phone support just sends me back to the website, which requires sign-in.

At this point it looks like the domain is locked in Microsoft’s system but not actually usable.

How can I release the domain and confirm whether my subscription/charges went through?

Any advice on how to reach the right Microsoft team would be very much appreciated.

    Only phone support can fix it. They will need to prove you control the domain and then can release it or help you get into the account.

    You will need to contact the Microsoft Data Protection team for assistance with this issue. The Data Protection team is specifically equipped to handle these matters, verify the required information, and take the appropriate action to resolve your issue.

    Call during your country's business hours. If you get the phone bot (and not immediately told to use the admin portal) make sure you ask for the data protection team and say "I cannot access admin center and I am the only admin user".
