Hi,
Nice to meet you! My name is Randy and I'm an independent advisor.
I’m really sorry you lost those notes, Try these steps: first, check the OneNote recycle bin (View Deleted Notes) in case they’re still stored there. Next, look in your local backup folder (usually under Documents\OneNote Notebooks or the backup path you copied) for .one files that can be opened manually. Then, log in to OneDrive online and check both the notebook and its Version history to see if older copies contain your missing year. Also search your PC for *.one files, since unsynced notebooks can sometimes be found that way. Finally, sign in to OneNote Online to confirm whether the missing sections appear differently there. These steps cover both local and cloud recovery options.
A couple of clarifying questions for you:
Do you know if your Year 4 notes were stored in a local notebook only (not synced to OneDrive) before you switched?
Do you still have access to the old computer folders where OneNote for Windows 10 used to keep its cache/backup?
Kind regards,
